Updated.. we switched to Poly.

Hi trying to book two standard studios at the Boardwalk villas. I booked a standard view but they didn't have two standard views available for those dates. So I waitlisted the second one.
I can borrow a few points and book a garden view for the same dates just so I have it in case the waitlist doesn't come through. My only concern is that we are booking two rooms with a gaggle of graduating senior girls in one room. I want both rooms to be close so DH and I are close by to the girls. Can I request for these two types of rooms to be close by? Ideally I would love to have them across the hall. Would that be possible? We don't care where we are in the resort just want to be close together.

Has anyone ever booked the two different types and requested to be close together at the Boardwalk Villas? thank you!

Just indicate "traveling with" on both reservations. Contact MS to add this to your reservations.

Deb's noted request can be used with different category rooms as long as the categories are close to each other. At BWV, almost all standard view rooms have pool/garden view rooms across the hallway so it is a request that can be met, but as with any request it is not guaranteed.

I have had that request honored. The pool view was not right across the hall, but it was close.

I'd also ask MS to note on both reservations that one of the studios contains the chaperones for the occupants of the other studio. ( Not trying to imply that the girls need close supervision, but no harm in giving the room assigner a bit more incentive to make an extra effort, LOL).

Thank you all!! That's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for all advice.

Thanks Deb, SO its ok that they are different categories? Thanks so much!
"Traveling with" is used when a group has booked two rooms and wants to request that those rooms be close to one another. As already stated, at BWV there are Pool/Garden View rooms across the hall from the Standard View rooms so it's physically possible provided the room assigner can work it out for your dates of stay.

Your thread title mentioned "linking" and that is something different. Linking is used when your stay is split into two consecutive reservations for the same room size and booking category at the same resort and you want to alert the room assigner to keep you in the same physical room for both parts of your stay. You can end up with two reservations for one stay if some nights are booked under one membership and the rest of the nights are booked under a different membership, with both reservations for the same exact type of room. MS can link those two reservations together so that the room assigners puts you into the same room for both parts of the stay so that you do not have to move rooms.

The room with the girls, must have an adult, age 18 or more in that room. Is a gaggle 5 or less?

Just to emphasize, it's a request and there's no way to guarantee they will be close.

Even with 2 standards, there's no guarantee the rooms would be close.

Yep, that's the truth. I do this request several trips a year at BWV. Often I'm excited just to be on the same floor. Last month we requested the traveling with and made sure it was on both reservations. Didn't happen. We were on the fourth floor closer to the tennis courts/canal view. Our grandkids & daughter were on the 5th floor right near the elavator. No chance of changing, esp during food/wine. So op prepare yourself. In the past we have been on the sane floor and as close as 3-4 rooms away. As someone mentioned, you may not want to make any request other than the traveling with request and make sure the cm puts the request on both room reservations.

Thanks everyone for your help. We ended up switching to the Poly Villas both with Standard categories. I had the DVC CM add " travel with" to both reservations. I have no idea about the Poly rooms. Anyone have experience there??

Do you want connecting studios? If so they need to add more than just the travel with as that may only put you close to each other vs connecting. But if you request connecting that may override most anything else you might look for.

I'm not an expert on PVB but have stayed there twice now. What info are you looking for on the rooms? Quick run down - they are relatively large studios with most of the extra space going towards the split bath. They have a queen bed and queen sleeper sofa and a pull down single murphy bed. Small kitchenette, fridge with no freezer and all the other studio appliances. In the split bath there is one room with the toilet, sink and tub/shower. In the other room there is a sink and a walk in shower (with a nice rainfall shower head!)

Oh thank you for all the detail. Is it possible to have connecting Poly studios? That would be most preferable because we a chaperoning five teens girls on this trip. They are choosing to go to Disney for their graduation celebration and my Dh and I are the chaperones. Most of them will be 18 and we booked all the girls in one studio but it would be awesome if they connected so they could use our bathroom and I can make sure they are all safe each night without being too intrusive.

I know nothing about these new studios but did see the separate baths which is awesome for five teen girls!!

Yes, all but 2 studios at PVB connect to another studio so it's actually a request that is achievable. As I mentioned it should be the main request and might mean not getting other request because they do have to put you in two that are open and connect but I have yet to see someone post they did not get that request filled although like any other request it is not guaranteed. I say it's about as close to guaranteed as possible without being 100%.

But make certain the CM puts down the "connecting" request - I have an upcoming reservation and had asked for that. I had to call about something else so just ask the CM I was speaking with that time to double check the request and they said it was down only as a traveling with which was different than a connecting room request.

Kat4 thank you Sooo much!! I'm going to call member services. We don't care about location at all and just want to be connected. Right now the CM said the put " travel with" on both Reservations. Should I have it say "connected"??

The CM I spoke with was pretty insistent that traveling with would not be enough. Maybe have them do the traveling with and also put down request connecting studios just so the room assignor knows for certain.
