If I am using an
ECV do I need a DAC
So eons whose only needs are mobility related doesn't need a
DAS (Disability Access Service Card).
Most lines at WDW are Mainstream Lines, which means they are accessible. CMs can see the mobility device and know that guest needs an accessible route.
DAS is for guests who need more in line than a wheelchair or ECV can provide.
- I was recently diagnosed with something that gives me issues that I am embarrassed to discuss in a public forum, but which would be made much easier if I had access to a DAC.
For a separate set of issues I need to rent an ECV while at Disney, so will that be enough to access the wait time cards or will I need to see if I can get a CM to talk to me off to the side in hopes of minimizing my embarrassment.
Guests at Guest Relations have a reasonable amount of privacy when discussing things with CMs. The stations are not set very close together and it is possible to speak to CMs without being so loud that other guests can hear.
What you would need to do is explain your needs for waiting in line that are not met by the mobility device.
This is what Disney's FAQs about DAS says about mobility devices:
Does a Guest whose disability is based on the necessity to use a wheelchair or scooter need a DAS Card?
No, a Guest whose disability is based on the necessity to use a wheelchair or scooter does not need a DAS Card. Depending on the attraction, the Guest will either wait in the standard queue or receive a return time at the attraction based on the current wait time. For some attractions at
Disneyland Resort, these guests will go directly to an alternate entrance. Guests with additional needs should discuss them with Guest Relations.
