ECVs and DACs?

If I am using an ECV do I need a DAC - I was recently diagnosed with something that gives me issues that I am embarrassed to discuss in a public forum, but which would be made much easier if I had access to a DAC.

For a separate set of issues I need to rent an ECV while at Disney, so will that be enough to access the wait time cards or will I need to see if I can get a CM to talk to me off to the side in hopes of minimizing my embarrassment.

So eons whose only needs are mobility related doesn't need a DAS (Disability Access Service Card).

Most lines at WDW are Mainstream Lines, which means they are accessible. CMs can see the mobility device and know that guest needs an accessible route.

DAS is for guests who need more in line than a wheelchair or ECV can provide.

Guests at Guest Relations have a reasonable amount of privacy when discussing things with CMs. The stations are not set very close together and it is possible to speak to CMs without being so loud that other guests can hear.
What you would need to do is explain your needs for waiting in line that are not met by the mobility device.

This is what Disney's FAQs about DAS says about mobility devices:

Does a Guest whose disability is based on the necessity to use a wheelchair or scooter need a DAS Card?
No, a Guest whose disability is based on the necessity to use a wheelchair or scooter does not need a DAS Card. Depending on the attraction, the Guest will either wait in the standard queue or receive a return time at the attraction based on the current wait time. For some attractions at Disneyland Resort, these guests will go directly to an alternate entrance. Guests with additional needs should discuss them with Guest Relations.

If you are embarrassed about voicing things, how about a letter detailing the accommodations you would need? The CM's don't need a diagnosis, they need to understand what accommodations you need that the ECV will not provide.

I'm not sure if this has changed with the new system but under the old system I was frequently asked at rides about my issue and what I needed. So besides figuring out what to say to get the pass issued you may also want to think of a quick sentence you can give to ride CMs to let them know what you need. Like for example, I have a medical condition that may require me to leave the line urgently. Even if it's a bathroom type issue you don't need to say that just let them know what you might need that is different from a typical guest.
