I watched Celebrate the Magic and Wishes from the huge open area between Main Street and the centre of the hub. Now they've opened it all up you can basically get a great view from anywhere.
I missed the first showing of CeM on Wednesday as I was stuck in a bottleneck at the bridge, but once we managed to get moving again it opened out again and I was able to drive into a nice open bit to watch Wishes. Not long after Wishes they showed CtM again and I moved towards one of the raised flowerbeds that people sit on to watch, and wedged my front wheel against it so no-one could come and stand in front of me, and got a fantastic view of the second showing.
The best place to watch Wishes in a
scooter, I've found, is basically anywhere in the south side of the hub. There are a few sight-restricted areas behind trees and lights, but otherwise you can see any of the fireworks with no problem at all. Tip: if there's enough space pull back from the people in front so you're further back from the height restrictions meaning you get better viewing angle.
My major bugbear is when you drive up to a rope for a parade and there's no-one either side of you, but near the time they come and practically sit on your scooter, lean in front of you and basically restrict ALL your vision. Scooters unfortunately cannot push the wheels out so the rider is sitting flush with all the standers. I think the only option next time we do a parade is to leave the scooter just behind where I'm going to view and stand in front of it so I'm flush with everyone else standing. What I've also done in the past is park along the rope and swivelled my seat round so I'm actually at the rope. Trouble is, then my legs dangle (pulling on my knees) and people will still lean over you!
