ECV rental facilities in airport?

Hello all you lovely Disney people!

I rented my first ECV for my last trip to Disney World (helped by some VERY good advice from people here) and I had a blast! The only thing wrong was that I had to put up with my sister complaining the whole time that SHE wanted one too . . . :rotfl:

This time is different, though, because we're going to see family. This means two things, one good, one bad: we will have a car; and we won't be staying in a Disney hotel.

What I was wondering is if anyone knows of any ECV rental places in or near the Orlando airport? We'd fly in, drive to them, pick up the ECV, and return it on our way home. Does any place do this, or do we have to order online to make sure of availability? It will be around the time of spring break; do they ever run out?

Thanks,

My mother is in need of a Wheelchair we never rented one at the airport what my father did was called the hotel we were staying at and asked them if they knew of a company and used the one they knew of of googled the ECV wheelchari company's and had the wheelchair delivered to the hotel room. We have done this in many different locations. I would DEFINATLY suggest making sure whoever you rent from has 24 hour on call services. One time the battery died at the park we met the rep from the company at the gate and traded wheelchairs it was great!! I'm sorry i do not remember the company we rented from.

If you are staying at any hotel in the Orlando area any of the companies we have listed in Post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs will deliver it and pick up. If you will be staying with relatives (at their house) the companies will work out a time to make delivery and pickup.

I don't know of any that would deliver to the airport, and also you would have to fit the ECV inthe car as well as all of your luggage.

There are a number of rental places that have been recommended by DIS posters through the years listed in post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQ.
You can get to that thread either by following the link in my signature or by looking toward the top of this board.

All of the companies listed will bring the ECV to you and pick it back up when you are done.

If you rent your car from Avis, they have an arrangement with Scootaround - one of the companies listed in the FAQ thread referenced by both SueM and Cheshire - to arrange to have an ECV disassembled in the trunk of your rental car when you pick it up.

Most companies will deliver to residences as well, although the restrictions/rules/etc. may be slightly different (or may be exactly the same as renting when staying at a hotel). Other than that, I can realistically see ANY company's reluctance to rent expensive equipment to anyone whose location they couldn't confirm, i.e. someone wanting to pick up the equipment.
