What are some of the questions you should ask before you commit to a certain company?

A couple that I thought of:
Year of the rentals?
Brand name of the rentals?
Service hours in case of problems?

I have to say, I sent 5 inquiries and have only recieved 3 replies.
One was with a phone call(said I had a bad email), the other two by email.

Another one, since different companies ARE giving different answers on this one:

Do you folks require/recommend some sort of special insurance?

The answer for this should be NO; but some of them are answering yes.

Enjoy the Magic!

I would not worry at all about either the year or the model of the rentals, at least from the companies we have listed in the disABILTIES FAQ. Before moving down here I had dealt with one company, and have had dealings with some of the others since I have moved.

Generally the companies will ask the height and weight of the user, so to be sure to provide the best model and make sure the seat height is set properly.

I have never heard of anyone getting insurance for use witrh a rental ECV. As long as you take the key out if you leave it parked and keep it in your room overnight there should not be any problem. As far as liability, the rental companies have very high coverage themselves.

As far as wondering about service hours, I would estimate that fewer than one in 50 rentals have any mechanical problem at all, and from reports over the years I have never heard of anyone having to wait more than an hour after reporting a problem to having the ECV replaced.

One company I talked to, did tell me that if it was stolen I would be responsable for replacement, another did almost request mechanical and lost insurance which added another 8 dollars a day!

This sorta has me worried about renting offsite!:confused3

I had two of those in one trip! The first time, on a VERY rainy Saturday night, the offsite-rented ECV just stopped operating inside Buzz Lightyear (CMs were extremely helpful! but couldn't fix it). The next night, after Epcot closed I had a flat. My luck, the rental company was closed for the day before each incident. They DID replace each one first thing the following morning.
