ECV on buses and the rest of the party

When I get on the bus with an ECV, I know I pre-load, but what about the rest of my party? In the past, there's just been DH, and the bus driver has always motioned for him to get on with me, but next time there'll be 6 of us (Me, DH, DS, DDIL, and 2 DGDs). Do we all get on together? Or if just I get on early, will there probably be a seat for at least DGDs to sit near me? Is it OK for me to save seats for my DGDs? What I'm most concerned with is being able to sit with my grandchildren on the bus. Actually, could my DGDs get on with me and leave DH, DS, and DDIL to stand in line and sit where they can. Or do parties of 6 oftenall get on the bus together?

the limit is 5 or 6 that can enter with the ECV guest.

you can have one person load with you in the back. everyone else must land through the front and their place in line( they do not get bumped up to the front so that they can gty getting on the same bus)

Unless something has changed since November, this is not what the policy states.

Now, I've only ever had at most, 2 people with me. And they always loaded with me.

I don't remember what the actual policy is. But from what I remember, it is 6 addition people, or 6 people including the person with the scooter.

You and p to 5 people may load in the back door with you, if there is more then this the driver may have them load in the front door.

Just ask each bus driver (or CM if you are boarding a boat or monorail). Some bus drivers will actually have your entire party board with you; others will ask that everyone but a single companion wait to load with everyone else.

I always feel like each driver is like the Captain of a ship or airplane - they are in charge of the vehicle, so I am going to defer to their preference!

And on the saving seats quesetion.

I've never seen anyone try to save seats on the bus. I believe it would be very difficult to do so. People are generally piling on, everyone looking for and finding seats. Also, depending on how many people there are loading with a wheel chair or scooter, there may not be enough seats for those people, plus your grandchildren.

interesting. saw a large party split up. I loaded first( me and the DH) then the lady on the ECV was loading and the driver told everyone else in her group that only one person could load with her in the back and everyone else had to wait in the regular line. of course it was like 8-10 people so maybe that was why.

one thing to think about if your granddaughters are like my 4.5 year old granddaughter she would not have sat with as she always went to back seat not near where you would be seated. bus rides were one of her favorite rides of the trip

Is there a reason that the children can't stay with their parents? I think they'd be better off being supervised by their parents than sitting separate from you but near the accessible seating.

It depends but the signs usually say groups up to 6 (so ECV user plus 5) can board together and larger groups should plan to split up and rejoin each other at final destination.

The real issue is the inconsistency on how to line up. In some places the queues for buses are now ECV/Wheelchair compliant up until the final portion so you are suppose to go into the regular line until you get to the door with the wheelchair logo on it and then you go into the wheelchair loading zone for the next bus. Other lines still let you skip straight to the front. It seems to depend on what CM may or may not be there enforcing that but I've seen this set up at Epcot, MK, and Disney Springs. Not sure if DHS has been updated to be that way and DAK definitely has not.
