ECV from the Parks or Rental?

We are planning on a December trip to WDW with DM and DF. My DM has her own ECV due to mobility issues, but we were planning on having my DF use one too. He has recently had some heart issues, and he has mild PD which affects his legs. The question is, would it be better to take our chances on getting an ECV at the parks (I know, FCFS), or are there places/companies to rent one from in the area for our entire stay? Would we have to go pick it up, or would they deliver to the resort? If anyone has done this before, any info you could offer would be much appreciated.

Rent one offsite...Painless, too, They deliver , pick up at resorts..on or off-site, much easier to steer than ones at WDW...think of shoulders, no chance of not getting one, too...If something goes wrong they will pick up and re-supply. I used Care Medical a couple of times when my own broke down...They picked up mine and delivered it, too, after fixing it...Fair rates for repairs...

Thank you for the response. Is this something we could set up in advance of our trip? Any idea of cost? Sound like it's worked out well for you ... that's nice to hear!

I've used both the ones in the parks and rented from offsite. The ones from offsite are MUCH better! I always rent from Walker's (1-888-SCOOTER) and I've been pleased with them. My sister had surgery just before her last trip and needed an ECV. She used Care Medical and liked them. Randy's is also supposed to be a good place to rent from. I like Walker's because they will drop the scooter off and pick it up with out you having to be present (scooter is always waiting for me when I check into my resort). I know you have to be present for Randy's and I'm not sure about Care. Any of these three places should be good offsite rental places for you.

Depending on the vendor they run about $30/day or $200/week. If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. The third item down is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including where people rent ECVs.

I like having my scooter 24/7. JFYI, busses can hold 2 w/c or scooters at a time. So if you will be using WDW transportation plan accordingly. You may have to wait for the next bus if someone with a w/c/ECV is on board before you. If you are driving obviouslythere's no problem.
Have a great trip.
