I've rent from Walker Mobility in the past and had no complaints with them at all. I actually preferred them. However, now they are not on Disney's preferred provider list so they can't deliver and leave your ECV at your resort. Does anyone know why they're not approved? So, for my upcoming trip I've chosen Best Price Mobility. Has anybody had experience with them--either good or bad?

Thanks in advance,

Carla

There is nothing wrong with the companies, like Walker, that are not preferred providers for WDW.

Companies were invited to apply for a limited number of 'spots' to become a preferred provider. There were some conditions in terms of type of equipment and services.
I have also heard that Disney had 2 other goals - one was to limit the speed of the scooters and the other was to limit the size (to make sure they fit on buses and in queues).
I have heard that the Preferred Vendors also agreed that a certain percentage of their scooters would meet the speed and size guidelines that WDW wanted to set.
Some very well known and used companies were not able to replace their fleet of scooters at this time and did not meet the guidelines for Preferred Vendor for that reason.

I continue to rent from Walker Mobility even though they are not a preferred provider. I have rented from them many times and prefer their service and friendly, efficient staff. Don't let the fact that they are not a preferred provider deter you from renting from them. On my recent trip, I called as soon as we arrived at the resort and the scooter was delivered within 15 minutes. On our day of departure, the man was there at the appointed time. Very efficiently run :)!

I have used and will continue to use Walker. As for the "list" I would ignore it. A lot of so-called "Approved Lists" deal with dollars and politics and I would imagine disney is no different from other businesses that know the local economy depends on their "list" and capitalizes on this. Just my opinion.
