ECV Disney vs Other

My DH has been having hip and knee problems so for the first time we need to rent a ECV for him. We are staying on property and he can walk short distances like from the room to the bus and from the bus to the park, but there is no way he can manage walking around the parks.

Is there an advantage, other than price, where I rent from? I guess it will be easier to get to the parks without the ECV and just rent one there.

If we rent at a Disney park, how early do we have to get to the park on a moderate attendance day to get a ECV before they sell out?

it depends on how many people need an ECV you can all ways have a few phone numbers of ECV renter in case you find he really dose need the ECV at the hotel too as some of the hotels you can walk a long way

For me, a big advantage will be a lightweight scooter. I am an average weight 5ft4 female and don't need a heavy duty scooter, I'm going for an off-site 3 wheeler lightweight one.

even the walk from the buses can be a distance and you are not allowed to send someone in to rent ECV and bring it out of the gate to help someone. also at the end of day there is no where to sit while waiting for buses, boats or monorail. just some things to think about besides the walk at the resort.

To add to what has already been said...

If you plan on going to Disney Springs (formerly called "Downtown Disney") you can try to rent an ECV there as well... but just like at the theme parks, it's quite a hike from the buses to the ECV rental for DS.

Unless you are staying at a very compact resort, like POFQ, or in the Contemporary tower, in your shoes I would rent offsite for the duration of the trip. So much easier; you don't have to hassle with getting an ECV at each park (especially if you use Park Hoppers).

The idea of vacation is to REST and relax and enjoy yourself - I hope your DH will use the ECV as a tool to have a great trip.
