ECV and FW busses

I thought about posting this on the disAbilities board, but I thought the folks on this board might be more knowlegable.

We are going to the Fort for the first time in August, and Dad will be using and ECV. Based on our trip last year (not at FW but with Disney busses in general), I saw that it can sometimes take quite some time to load the ECV on to the bus.

My question is: would it be faster (or easier) to drive the scooter to the park bus stops instead of loading it on and off of the internal bus, then loading again on the park busses? We will be staying in the cabins, and I would not mind walking with him, while the rest of the group (8 in all) ride the bus.

(in case you're thinking we should rent a golf cart, that won't work because we would need more than one to fit us all, and the budget is already stretched thin because we are staying at FW instead of POR)

Thanks for any help you can offer:wave2:

Will you have cars...with the exception of MK you would be better off driving if you can.

If you don't have a car, my guess is it will be a toss up. If the park you are going to has it's bus pick up at Outpost then it might be better to ride the ECV to Outpost. If you need to get to the Settlement stop, or the marina for MK, it is a long way from the cabins and the internal bus would be best.

We won't have a car, we are completely dependant on Disney and our feet (and the scooter) for the week:)

I'm happy to hear any suggestions!

I would not be concerned, the CM bus drivers are great. They will help you out no matter which way you decide to go. I might point out that to get to the Outpost bus stop you will have to be out on the main road going in and out of FW. I think you would be safer to ride the bus to the Outpost or the Marina bus stops.

I actually use an ECV like a golf cart to get around Ft. Wilderness. From the cabins going to the Outpost just taking the ECV directly will be quicker. There are adequate sidewalks that will get you to the Outpost bus stops.

Getting to Settlement may or may not be quicker depending on which loop you are in. The Purple bus gets to Settlement by a back road that is not available for guests, so the sidewalks to Settlement are a bit roundabout, especially if you are in 2100 - 2300.
