Economic Stimulus Question...

I'm hoping someone here can help me out, I have heard from some of my co-workers that we may get a 2nd stimulus check this year. I'm not sure if that's true, so does anyone have any info about that??? Secondly, if that is true and we will be getting a 2nd check, is there any way that I can change my direct deposit info from the 1st check that we received? Does that make any sense??? I ask because my husband left me and out 2 children about 2 months ago and our tax return and 1st stimulus check were deposited into HIS checking account, so if we do get this 2nd check it will be deposited into his account too right??? Well, I know that if he does have that put into his account, my children and I will not see a dime. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

sweetie-the goverment just spent 700 billion dollars saving the economy-there is no money in the pot for a second stimulus check. but the answer to your question is-yes it would have been deposited in the same account as the gov had on file from the tax return.

Actually its mentioned on cnn's website almost daily so far I haven't seen any details about it and its too early/late for me to go searching for info right now. Try the money section.

The Palosi and Reid are planning a lame duck session if Obama gets in to spend another 150 Billion on another stimulus for the "working class"...it somehow involves increases in food stamps, so I don't know the definition of "working class" for this one. I'm thinking it means "not the majority of us". That brings our total bailout/rescue/stimulous to over a trillion dollars. I guess since the sub-prime/overextention of America got us into this mess, we're using more of the same to get us out of it?

There's another package that Pelosi has been hawking, but the version I read had no direct checks going to taxpayers (and non-taxpayers) like the first one. I wouldn't count on it.

To the OP - IF it does happen then check with your attorney to see if you are entitled to a portion of the stimulus check from your ex-DH. We just had this issue with DH's ex. She illegally claimed both of her kids on her taxes and received the stimulus check (DH claims both of the kids per a court order because of his absurdly high child support payments). We are having to go through the court to get the money refunded.

We had to show proof of eligibility to the IRS (copy of the court order) to even be able to file our taxes this year because she had filed first claiming both children. We were able to file the taxes but it was too late to get the stimulus check changed because she was already in the system as having claimed both of them.

A call to the IRS may answer any questions (they are really VERY helpful on the phone).
