I had stayed at the Econolodge on 5335 Irlo Bronson Highway from 10/16 to 10/20. I bid on this one star hotel on Priceline and got it for $21 a night.
I had stayed at this Econolodge about two years ago and I found it to be a decent place. Now this property has been chopped in half. Half of the buildings are a Quality Inn and the other half is an Econolodge. The Econolodge rooms were near the back.
The entire property is pushed back a bit from the main I-192 strip. There isn't much to this hotel, other than a pool, an arcade with about 3 machines, and complimentary breakfast. The pool was part of the Quality Inn side. I didn't see a way for the Econolodge guests not to use the pool. There are Bushes O' Doom blocking the way, but you can easily walk around them. The complimentary breakfast had Little Debbie snack cake-like items, coffee, and juice.
The rooms themselves were generic, but they were clean. The bathroom and shower worked well. The towels and pillows were kind of thin, but useable. The AC unit was a little noisy, though. The whole property is pretty quiet, due in part that it was away from I-192 and the room was near the back of the property.
I was looking for a room just to shower and sleep. I was too busy having fun at the parks to care about other amentites. The only question I have is what would make me want to pay more to stay at the Quality Inn side? I know from experience that Quality Inn rooms are a bit more pricey than Quality Inn rooms. I peeked through a window of an empty room and the room was exactly like my Econolodge room. The key slot on the door was different. You got a pool on the Quality Inn side, but like I said, you can walk around obstacles to get to it.
I was also wondering about the "resort" moniker that hotels seem to put on their names. I found literature that said "The Econolodge Resort." I'm not sure if a pool qualifies as a resort. Other hotels around I-192 called themselves a resort, but all I saw was a pool and sometimes a playground. When I think of resort, I think of spa services, restaurants, and other things that make you want to stay on property the entire time.
Overall, the Econolodge served my needs and I would stay there again.
