I personally wouldn't book a cruise right now that required booking international flights or hotels. Drive to port or domestic flights at the most.
I guess it depends on your definition of "ahead of schedule". 5 YEARS is the normal development time line. WHO today is saying the EARLIEST they hope to start getting a vaccine into wide distribution is mid-2021. That's IF trials go well. And I susepct recreational travelers are going to be at the bottom of the list to get the vaccine.

Hope your are right. I'll owe you a Mickey Bar if you are, because I don't agree. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/30/opinion/coronavirus-covid-vaccine.htmlYes, years is the normal timline and it is definitely ahead. That's what happens when you shutdown the world and it diverts all of it's resources into developing a vaccine so the world can reopen.
I am also curios about this post. Not only is it off topic but nothing in it is factual. When did the world shut down? When did we divert all of our resources to developing a vaccine? When did the vaccine come out? When did we reopen? That's what happens when you shutdown the world and it diverts all of it's resources into developing a vaccine so the world can reopen.
I'll believe we have a safe and effective vaccine when the scientists say so, not when politicians say we will have one weeks before a major election.Yes, years is the normal timline and it is definitely ahead. We are counting on the Magic to be near Europe next summer for our British Isles/WBTA B2B. If it isn't there, we have a lot of swimming to do...yikes!
My husband mentioned something about a rowboat last night! LOL

Have him get one with room for two more and we're in...I'll bring some fish & chips!!!
This really is the issue. While we had a Hodge-Podge of restrictions across the nation rolled out to try and control covid-19, too many Americans elected not to follow even the most minimum restrictions. And I have no idea when or IF a vaccine will be available, but I suspect people wanting it to go on a cruise are going to be at the bottom of the priority list, behind Health Care Workers, those at risk etc. I have a hard time believing that a vaccine will be ready and in adequate supply for recreational travelers to get shots until 2022 or maybe 23.
