EBTA 2021 will it be going? Anyone with a magic ball?

I have a late-May 2021 British Isles cruise booked on Royal Caribbean, and I am doubtful that it will sail. I also have b2b cruises booked in Europe in October 2021, and I think those will happen.

I guess it depends on your definition of "ahead of schedule". 5 YEARS is the normal development time line. WHO today is saying the EARLIEST they hope to start getting a vaccine into wide distribution is mid-2021. That's IF trials go well. And I susepct recreational travelers are going to be at the bottom of the list to get the vaccine.

Yes, years is the normal timline and it is definitely ahead. That's what happens when you shutdown the world and it diverts all of it's resources into developing a vaccine so the world can reopen.

I am also curios about this post. Not only is it off topic but nothing in it is factual. When did the world shut down? When did we divert all of our resources to developing a vaccine? When did the vaccine come out? When did we reopen?

I think the EBTA 2021 has a good chance of going out with Covid protocols in place obviously.

I'll believe we have a safe and effective vaccine when the scientists say so, not when politicians say we will have one weeks before a major election.

I think, as I said previously, the larger key is going to be what the WHO and EU feel to be an adequate vaccine. They are under no obligation to reopen their borders to Americans (or Americans on cruise ships!) if they feel the public health situation does not align to their own. DCL, even in Europe, is very dependent on American travelers.

They have put in so much time and resources to produce this vaccine. I anticipate it being available this winter/spring.

The normal vaccine timeline IS several years (I believe the previous record was like 4 years) but because of people not following rules the scientists have devoted endless times and resources to develop this vaccine (which is in the stage 3 trials and performing well) because it is essentially what we need to get back to "normal"

This really is the issue. While we had a Hodge-Podge of restrictions across the nation rolled out to try and control covid-19, too many Americans elected not to follow even the most minimum restrictions. And I have no idea when or IF a vaccine will be available, but I suspect people wanting it to go on a cruise are going to be at the bottom of the priority list, behind Health Care Workers, those at risk etc. I have a hard time believing that a vaccine will be ready and in adequate supply for recreational travelers to get shots until 2022 or maybe 23.

I want to go on a cruise. And even though I have a autoimmune disease I'm thinking I'll be at bottom of list. I'm hopefully for something by 2022 or 2023, and that only to maybe do a few more things in state lol
