EBTA 2014...Across the Atlantic we go!!!

Magic Fountain
SPRING - SUMMER 2014:
From 1 May to 30 September 2014 (inclusive)
Thursday to Sunday from 21 to 23:30. The choreography begins at 21h, 21.30, 22h, 23h 22.30

I am now starting to think about transport from the port to the airport. My flights are 11:45am from T1. I have put a shout out on facebook and I have put my name to the EBTA sign up area. I just thought it would be good to start getting an idea on how many people would like to share transport so we could get it organised. :cool1:

Our flight is 11.50 and I am panicking about making it. I think we will make our own transfer arrangements though so we aren't dependent on others, and maybe their being late for the transport and panicking me even more. Great idea though.

You should be fine with the 11:50am Flight. :)

But of course, if you feel more comfortable booking your own transport then that is fine. I just saw the sign up section and joined it.

I am getting very excited now. Will be able to check in tomorrow!!! :cool1:

Oh my, I won't feel comfortable about our arranging our transport but my husband just prefers to do things himself:rolleyes2. Makes me so stressed:hyper:.

Hello!

We are planning a few days in London after the cruise.

I'm wondering in any of our friends in the UK can suggest a some websites that we can use to get London tour and attraction tickets at a cheaper cost before we arrive.

We would like to visit the Tower of London for sure. We have also been looking at day trip out of London that takes to Warwick Castle, Oxford, and Stratford upon Avon. There is a tour that will include the entrance fees to all of these sites, but you can also join the tour and not pay the fees until you go on the tour. Since it's just the three of us (2 adults, and 1 child), we weren't sure if we wanted to go to all of the sites, or whether our 6 year old would be tired, etc.

We'd really like to go to Warwick Castle, but the entry fee seems high. I was just wondering if there were some local websites, or perhaps some local discounts that our UK friends might be privy to.

Thanks for the help!

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

Are you looking at doing any other attractions in London such as the London eye, London dungeons, london aquarium, Madame tussauds (waxworks) ?
If so they have a merlin pass (www.merlinannualpass.co.uk) which include free entry all those and also Warwick castle, Legoland Windsor & chessington world of adventure. The cost for all of you would be £357 but if you are doing all the attractions that could give you savings. It would also give you 10% off shop purchases & 20% off food at the parks.

If you are just looking at Warwick castle I have some vouchers where you pay for a child and get the adult free which are valid until 31st July - if you want them I could bring them along for you.

Paul,

Thanks very much for your reply. I've sent you a PM as well.

Hi, don't forget the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. It is great and free. It is one of my favorite places in London. Ps. They also have free restrooms.

Very excited - just booked this trip - it's my first ever cruise - disney or otherwise. DH has never been keen on the idea but with the price offer on this and it being disney finally managed to persuade him.

Though looking at how long some people have been planning I have left this very late.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and hope to join in with some of the meets if not too late. Also great idea for kids to make friends beforehand my DS's are 7 & 9

Well for a first ever cruise you've chosen a hell of a journey, that's in a good way of course. It took me years to persuade my reticent wife to try cruising, she didn't even like the ferry journey to visit her sister!, anyway we did a three day and that was the last three day we have ever done. She is on number 13 in 8 years, lol

Get involved, lots to learn and have fun, the people here are a great source of information. My top tip is you can bring on your own booze in your carry on, unlike nearly every other cruise line. Welcome and Enjoy

Thanks have found the dis and dibb boards great when planning disney holidays in the past and I'm sure I will need more help planning what I need for this.

DH has asked me to ensure alcohol is high on the packing list and he hasn't even seen the prices they charge on board yet. :)

Hi and welcome,

My DH doesn't like flying but after our 1st cruise last year (on the magic) he is obviously hooked. lol He is willing to fly again!!! Last year we caught the train from the UK to Barcelona because he didn't want to fly. So after just 1 cruise, I think your DH will be booking on board for the next.:thumbsup2

Are you returning to the UK by Train, new TGV service from Barcelona to Paris in 6.5 hours now running.

Sorry to interrupt any current discussions but I wanted to post the Secret Mickey info. :) Sorry if this has been talked about on here and you haven't heard from me. I was been AWOL from the DISboards. :( Please forgive me! If you're interested in Secret Mickey please read the following...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here’s how it will work: You will receive a questionnaire of another participant. You will then buy a gift (or multiple gifts) for that participant. You will then leave the gift at the door or with the room host on any day of the cruise (earlier is usually better -- you don't want them to think you forgot).
The sky is the limit as to what you can do. You can leave one gift or you can do a small gift each day leading to one big one or you could just leave many small ones. You can leave for just the person or for the whole cabin. The requirements are to spend between $15 and $20 and you must leave one gift for the person your Secret Mickey. Beyond that, it’s up to you! But mostly, HAVE FUN! :)
Please copy the following set of questions, answer and send to me as a private message (Heather Sundeen Johannessen) on Facebook or as a private message on the DIS boards (heatherLOVESmickey).
The deadline is April 19th, 2014. I am sorry but I will need to make this a firm deadline in order to pair everyone and give time for people to plan their gift(s).
**NOTE*** One thing I was thinking is it could be fun for the kids to do this. I would change the limit to $5 to $10. So if any kids want to participate send me a questionnaire for them. If we don't get enough participants I will cancel it but my kids said it seemed like fun!
A lot of the museums in London are free entrance ..... check out the Natural History Museum, The Science Museum, The Museum of London, The British Museum. Another good thing to do is take a boat trip up the Thames. You will see a lot of the important sights from the river and it is great way to travel.
When visiting London a West End Show is a must ... TKTS is a good place to get discounted tickets on the day, from the booth in the middle of Leicester Square.
You can also apply for free tickets to the Ceremony of the Keys at The Tower of London ... happens every night when the Tower is locked up for the night.
This is am amazing experience.
we have a Facebook group
and I think people with kids were setting up things for kids to communicate beforehand over there.
Thanks for the additional information. We plan on going to the British Museum at least, and we want to do a show in the west end.
I looked at the "Ceremony of the Keys". It looks pretty neat (and the price is right), but it seems that trying to get tickets is a bit harder than I had anticipated. It says you have to send a self addresses stamped envelope (in UK postage, of course), but the Royal Post website is a "royal pain" to get an envelope to print out the postage (you have to register on the website, etc).
Thanks again for the info!
