Good evening, everyone! I have been reading this thread for a couple of months now hoping to pop on and say 'I've Joined'. However, it looks like I won't get the final word until August. So....

I have not seen on here any mention of lanyards. On our Mexican Riviera cruise I did the lanyards as my FE gift and did it for everyone not just FE participants. However, this cruise is too big for me to do that. If I do get to sign up I will be happy to take on this project and I believe it can be done for $2.00 per person which would include: lanyard, badge holder and name tag.

If you all want to do lanyards and someone else wants to take it over I will be happy to give you all the info.

I have been on three Disney cruises, WBTA, WBPC and MR and have had lanyards on all three. They are a great conversation starter and it gives you a feeling of belonging.

Just an idea......

Hope to give you an 'I've Joined' soon!:banana::banana:

:yay: Judy! I was one of the fortunate recipients of the Mexican Riviera lanyard you generously gave all DISboard cruisers even though I wasn't an FE participant! The MR lanyard was red with white lettering and said: DISboards Disney Mexican Riviera 2011. Then in our card key pouch, each person in the cabin had their first name and below it was our Disboard name. It made it very easy to identify others from our group. :woohoo:

I sure hope you can join us on this cruise!:cool1:

I was reading on the Photo Thread that there was an option on the Fantasy to purchase the photo CD for $349, and for an extra $50 you get ALL the prints too from Shutters. I've been searching, but can't find any more information on this, and if that applies to our cruise too.

Just to confirm, is it the Marriott or the Courtyard? I am thinking of flying in Friday, just incase of bad weather. Are there things close by to do on the Saturday?

If a tour of LA isn't your cup of tea, there are some fun beach cities nearby. Manhattan Beach is fun for shopping and dining (the area near the pier). Lots of specialty stores and restaurants, not chain mall stores. It's a nice upscale area. Most of the pro athletes who play for LA teams live there. Around the airport (Century Blvd) is not a nice area, as I guess pretty much the same as any major airport area.

Susan and I made lanyards for our second Med Cruise back in 2010. It definitely helps to identify who is who and they look nice too. Some non-DISers cruisers who saw them wanted one too. :)

DH and I are both scuba divers. I haven't for years since DD was born but DH will probably jump at the chance to buddy up with someone. The last time he dove was in Cozumel about 3 years ago and he paired up with someone on the DisMeet. If you have ideas, I'll pass those to him!

I am trying to get DH to dive at all ports! He just got certified on our honeymoon so I am trying to get some dives in with him. We dove Cozumel in May while on the Fantasy. We will def. be diving in Costa Maya as we did the ruins in May. I have never been diving in the Pacific so I am looking forward to it. Your husband is more than welcome to join us and I'll let you know where we will be diving. We are using this cruise as our last big vacation before we start a family and I am really nervous that activities and hobbies that I love, like diving and travelling, are going to be put on the back burner once that happens. Your statement above saying you haven't dove since DD was born isn't helping. I worry to much about life changes....

My wife and I are both divers. It's been a few years since either of us has been but I would be interested in doing a dive. Saw earlier discussion about runners. Susan and I have done two marathons and multiple half-marathons. We'll definitely be out on deck 4 in the mornings.

I will let you know where we will be diving and maybe we can get a boat of dis divers. I did the Disney Marathon in Jan and at the finish line I stated one and done! So way to go on completing two, I will be sticking to half marathons from now on. My DH has "retired" from marathons but he has run a bunch, including Boston twice. I was also on the May 15, 2010 Med cruise but I wasn't on the disboards then. I just saw the website and wow, that was awesome and so well organized! Did you set that up? I wonder if we could do one for this cruise since we have a lot of activites planned. I am listed under supercruiser420's room and my sister and kids are listed a supercruiser420's friends on the roll call on the website. My name tag is still hanging in my bedroom. I see that you are a space buff! So am I. I was the dorky kid that went to space camp, space academy and advanced space academy(twice) and never outgrew the dorkiness.

If school will give the approval we will be booked on to this cruise in a couple of weeks!
We are from the Netherlands and will be joining with the 3 of us! Me(30) DH(35) and DD(4)
It's our second cruise with DCL, last year we've been on the WBTA.
We have the cruise virus in our system now!!!
So hope to join in in a couple of weeks!

Welcome Nina. Hope you will be able to make it. My Godmother lives in Wassenaar and we used to visit every couple years growing up. My son is 5yo and will love having another new friend!

Lanyards sound neat. Hope you can join the cruise!!

Hi, all! We're just home from the first Canada cruise and it was truly amazing. I took somewhat over 1,000 pictures and will be posting a lot of them soon.

You can see by my signature that we booked another cruise while on board. Anyone up for another 14 night cruise?

I haven't had time to read all the posts, but welcome to the new cruisers!

Beth

Welcome Home Beth - I can't wait to hear all about your cruise and see your photos. I was able to convince my DH that we needed to take this cruise, he agreed and we are going to do the Sept 7th one.

Another data point, my wife continued to dive after the first child but stopped after the second. We have continued to travel with/without our kids so no impact there.

Cool! Yes, I did set that up and would be happy to do so again if people would like it. I also coordinated the stateroom crawl, the Palo group dinners, wine tastings, embarkation meet & greet, early and late seating group dining. Planning, coordination and organization come naturally to me and I enjoy it. That cruise was a lot of fun and to this day my family still keeps in touch with our fellow DISers/diners at Table 33! :)

Susan and I are both engineers at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center so yes, we're definitely into the space program.

Good to know about the diving and traveling. We will just have to see where life takes us.

I am in love with your organizational skills! I think having a website be would great so people aren't having to flip through all the pages on here and we can have a place to list all the meeting people are talking about. This is going to be an amazing activity filled cruise. Someone is setting up a Palo brunch already and someone mentioned a stateroom crawl but nothing has been set-up yet that I am aware of. I don't think anyone will object if you start to plan, coordinate and organize.

I am so jealous of you and your wife's job. I was an aerospace and mechanical engineering major before I switched to environmetal engineering. My DH is a software engineer. I am giving you fair warning, I can talk for hours about the space program.

Well, scuba is probably the only thing I "gave" up - but honestly, it's more because I was never a strong swimmer so I never felt that comfortable diving. I got certified mainly because a whole bunch of friends wanted to try it and it sounded fun. DH on the hand is a fish in another life and LOVES the ocean. Don't worry about putting life on back burner once you start a family! Do what we did - we booked a trip on a canal boat in Nottingham, England AFTER I found out I was pregnant so we cannot backed out of traveling... DD's first plane ride was across the country and transatlantc to England at 7 months! We've been traveling ever since. She absolutely loves it and will name off 10 countries where she'd want to go next. We also start her skiing at 4, so basically anything we want to do, we just make her do it with us. That's my unsolicited 2 cents.

That's why Sean still refer to you as our "Leader" for the cruise!

I can't believe the price on the EBTA Cruise! OMG! Only thing is I'll never be able to get the miles to cover the airfare before then..... :sad1:

I could get a 9C for the price of our IGT on the PC cruise. Unreal!

Perhaps one of the reasons they were able to keep it so cheap is b/c they're sailing out of Galveston. Why Galveston? I HATE sailing out of Galveston! It stinks for the first 2 days of sailing while you're in the Gulf.

Egad! I checked out airfare - saw $2840 and thought - oh, that wouldn't be sooo bad, until I realized it's $2840 EACH! yikes!

I used 100K miles for the PC cruise, I figure I'd need 150K minimum for the EBTA. It'll be another 5 years before I have that many!

There were a LOT of Disney scheduled tastings on the Hawaii cruise - virtually every sea day afternoon and many evenings as well.

Engineering type here too - mechanical technician first, then technical recruiter, and finally chem tech all for a big company research lab. can not LIVE without my spreadsheets!

The website is awesome - it would be great to have something like that for this cruise.
