DVCinderella, can you please add my (ArGa) father's name to the roll call. He is Sydney McFarland from Brampton, Ontario.

Thank you

Your father has been added. Sorry for the delay...running to catch up after being on the Magic 5-night cruise to Canada. It was fantastic! (Beth, I can see why you're going again!)

My Dad will be with us too, celebrating his 75th birthday. Between you, me and Anne, we may have to set up a DDad playdate onboard ;). You think they'd want to hang out in the Club or the Lab?...forever young at heart .

It could be chilly in LA - even down right cold at night, so you'll want at least a sweatshirt or light to midweight jacket and long pants for the early days of the trip - I'll say low 20s in celcius during the day, mid to upper teens at night, with wind. Cruising to Hawaii in May, I wore long pants/ crops daily until we got to Hawaii. Same applies in Florida.

The canal zone especially out in the sun, should be nice and warm. Low 20's at night to mid 30's during the day. Possibility of rain.

Really???? That's like what we have right now in summertime in the Netherlands!!!

During the nights it's like 16oC and during the day like 24oC
In dec. it's mostly like 0oC at night (or way less) and 5oC during the day so i think just a longsleeve will be needed for the early hours (we love to sleep in even DD4, so probably won't need it)

Thanks for the info I'll pack wisely!!!!

Have a great day all!!!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

MY guess is the BAR :rotfl2: And don't forget to tell them about the "Gits & Geezers" Meet, nightly, in the Outlook bar at 10 pm. (Gits= Geezers-in-training.)

Manon, Technically, I suppose the temperatures are the same - but experience has taught me to be prepared. I was in So Cal in September and ended up buying a coat at Disney one night because I was so cold. That was an expensive lesson I don't want to repeat!

Off to meet a friend for lunch at the LEE Outlets in Massachusetts today. A little retail therapy would seem to be in order;)

Happy Day, all!

On another note...is there a homework club organized for this cruise for those who, unfortunately, will have school work to complete? I thought I saw something about 9 a.m. on sea days in Diversions? But I could very well be mistaken.

Thank you,
LindaD

Hi Linda,

This was discussed on the Facebook page. In fact, I think you were the last person to comment on the idea. Specifics were left open, but Diversions at 9 or 10 were suggested times.

Cheers,

I was looking over some of the excursions in Columbia and noticed the phrase "Guests are encouraged to bring local currency to purchase optional extras such as souvenirs and snacks." Is the good ol' USD not welcome in Columbia? How about credit cards? In Mexico, the dollar is just as welcome as the peso, but it's more about the peso than the dollar I suspect.

A little off topic but I just had to share my proud mum moment. My son who is home educated took his english exam this May which is 2 years earlier than he would take it in school and we got the results through today and he passed!:cool1::cool1::cool1:
Am so pleased with him and all his effort has now paid off.
Colette.

Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

No new news this morning but I wanted to say hello.

Princess dresses - lots of little girls wear them, but Grandma wouldn't rush out to buy new ones if yours are outgrown. If you can get a couple for a bargain after halloween, maybe? But the 10 yo may feel she's outgrown that sort of thing. Also, think about the photo ops - the princesses are colorful - the photos with them of my granddaughters wearing dark velvet dresses were wonderful.

Scrappy meet gals -I'm only missing a couple emails before I create a mailing list and start the email discussion of who what where when.

Who is staying where before the cruise? I'll be at the Doubletree in San Pedro from Friday. Looking forward to the aquarium and maritime museum.

Happy Day, all!

We are staying at the Homewood Suites in Anaheim. We normally stay at the Hilton Anaheim, but the rooms are bigger. So, with all the suitcases we'll have thought it would be easier to stay here. We are going to Disneyland for all the Christmas stuff for 1 day.

Has anyone heard anything about if DCL will provide transportation to FLL?

Well I am glad to know that I am not going as crazy as I thought I was. I did all kinds of searches on this thread to find some info on a homework club! Guess this will be discussed a little closer to departure.

Thank you:hippie:

The tour guide some of us are using told us that both dollars and credit cards are welcome.

I told DD about homework club and she said "no way" was she getting up at 9am to do homework :teacher: I guess we will wait and see what the teachers want done while we are gone - luckily she will have the christmas break to finish whatever doesn't get done on the cruise when we get home.

:rotfl2: So funny!! I was actually a little worried about my dad tiring of hanging out with us all the time, so I recruited his sister and her husband to come along. My aunt and uncle booked their cabin this week!! It sounds like there will be a whole crew of dads onboard. The more, the merrier!

I think I'm leaning toward not taking any princess dresses. We'll have seven people sharing two cabins, so space will be at a premium. Not to mention that we will have to pay for our luggage to take a ride on the plane, so for the six people in my household (not counting Dad), we're going to try to keep it to a carry-on apiece plus one or two checked bags total. It's going to require some creative packing, especially because I am allergic to doing laundry on the ship.

Actually I'm serious. I'm allergic to most laundry soap and have to use a particular kind, which is just a pain. But I also have a general opposition to doing regular chores while on vacation.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be making a mistake not packing the princess dresses. I think my older daughter won't care, and my youngest will at least have her sister beside her in regular clothes, and so won't feel like the only one. Maybe I'll pack a tiara for each of them to help them feel princessy in their formal dresses. If I end up with extra space in the suitcase (how likely is that?), I may get DD7 a new princess dress as an early Christmas present, but I'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for the suggestion to check the Disney store after Halloween. I don't usually shop there, so I wouldn't have thought of that. I'm planning to grab a couple of pirate outfits around Halloween, but I'm not sure I should wait until after Halloween to get those; I'm afraid the sizes we need will sell out. There are usually slim pickings around here on the clearance items after Halloween is over.

YEAH! Good JOB, Teach! GOOD JOB - Student!

. . .. Maybe I'll pack a tiara for each of them to help them feel princessy in their formal dresses. . .

Tiaras are a GREAT idea. I might dig mine out, too. One cruise the disboard women ALL wore tiaras on formal night. We looked pretty princessy:rotfl2:

Can you use purex 3 in 1 laundry sheets? They're easy to pack in no space. Or, having laundry/ dry cleaning done by the ship laundry isn't too horribly expensive. You can get a lot of laundry done for the cost of shipping a suitcase on some airlines.

Just returned from 3 days of driving to Iowa and back to Colorado taking our third daughter to college. In 48 hrs, she has been chosen for the top band, choir, jazz band and elite acapella group! Makes letting her go seem a little easier, knowing she is thriving already! Counting down until semester break--oh wait--we'll be on a cruise:)

I happened to come across the following on MouseSavers:

http://www.mousesavers.com/wp-content/uploads/New_2012_Disney_Wonder.pdf

Looks like a travel agent pamphlet, and it's obviously dated, but I was wondering...when did our itinerary change? This itinerary lists Grand Cayman and Cozumel as two of our stops. Wow, I wouldn't mind those over Cartagena! I booked this cruise when it was first announced, and I don't recall any itinerary changes. I'm pretty sure when I booked, the itinerary was what it is now. I wonder when this sheet was distributed? I realize DCL can change the itinerary at any time, but man, I kinda wish we had this one.

I just checked the itinerary on DCL's web site, and it still has Cartagena. We will NOT be happy campers if we don't stop there. that was the reason for booking the cruise. Tomorrow, I'll call my travel agent and see what's up.

As to where we're staying prior to the cruise, it's The Vagabond Inn. They provide transportation to the port, as well as coffee, tea and donuts. The price is good and the rooms are clean. Wemstayed there last year before our December cruise.

I don't think there's any need to call your travel agent. There hasn't been a change to our current itinerary. The aforementioned travel agent pamphlet was (I assume) put out before our cruise went on sale. Our current itinerary is the same itinerary it was the day the cruise went on sale. What I was curious about is when was this pamphlet published, and when did the itinerary change? Just wondering if anyone here ever saw that initially published itinerary.

To note, our cruise went on sale 1/26. I'm not sure how far prior to 1/26 the folks originally booked on the 12/9, 12/16, 12/23 & 12/30 LA-to-Mexico sailings were alerted that their cruises were cancelled. But obviously this pamplet was distributed to travel agents during that time to sell the 3 "new" cruises on the Wonder (EBPC, 7-night Eastern & 6-night Western). It was probably distributed "hurriedly" as changing the entire month of December 11-months in advance was probably considered "late notice", and they needed to start getting those new cruises filled.

I'm just wondering when and why the itinerary changed.

No homework for us as dd is on vacation! It's one of the advantages of homeschooling. I'm the teacher, so I can let her off the hook! :yay:
