Good morning! One not-so-happy cruiser here...still no A/C here in the office, and it's still hot and humid here at the Jersey shore. We had no rain at all yesterday (although it was promised by the weatherman;)) and the humidity just keeps climbing.

Beth

Sorry to hear about the A/C. What makes it more unbearable is no air moving. I am surprised that you are still having to work. If you use computers, it is really hard on them too. Hopefully they will get it fixed today.

Sounds like you have a weatherman like ours. They promise certain weather and it never materializes. I think that sometimes they want to one-up the other area weathermen/women.

Have fun on your Canada cruise. You'll have to let us know how it was when you get back.

Linda

to us:rotfl2:

As for Hannukah- we celebrate that too, as my hubby was raised Jewish and I don't want to lose some of his traditions- that is the first week of the cruise. We don't do the gift giving portion that many who celebrate do, but light the menorah and play dreidel. I hadn't honestly realized the timing until the earlier post mentioned it, so I will have to talk to my hubby and see what he suggests....we'll see about that one until it gets closer:confused3

I am excited to see the ship decorated and do the gingerbread houses- we normally do the large gingerbread men so the houses will be fun for my family:mickeyjum

If you DO decide to celebrate that on the ship, I would love to participate and hear the story. Could you use an extra grandma?

I was looking at the webcam for Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, where I will be in two weeks. Those lucky people were wearing JACKETS! That means that it must be cooler and less humid there!

I love the hot weather, and I really don't mind the humidity since I've been around New Jersey's hot, humid summers all of my life. I just don't like being stuck indoors with no way of cooling off. It's just much too hot to think in here!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Beth

Ooooooh poor YOU with no a/c! HOW did we do it back in the day when nobody had ac at home or in the office? All I can suggest is rinse your inner arms up to the elbow with cold water at intervals - and likewise your face. That'll at least help.

The real problem with no A/C is that we have to keep the windows open, and we're on a very busy street. There's a bus stop right outside the window, a fire house and a McDonald's across the street. I can't hear myself think!

I have two computers on my desk, and they're slowing down a bit due to the heat. The repairman was supposed to be here at 10 AM. Maybe he's on Alaska time? LOL!!!

The Disney Store had some of the magnets on sale, so I picked those up instead of making my own - for $2.49 it's cheaper than magnet paper!

It's interesting they pulled the IGT rate - it must have received lots of pickers - I checked online and there were 8 cabins in every category, then I changed the # of people in our party and 8 new cabins popped up. So that's at least 80 Inside cabins that are unassigned (5 categories, 8 cabins, twice).

So I did the Disney math, and since it cost less to fly on Christmas (From Fort Lauderdale to Orange County it was $134 per person vs. $204 on Sunday the 23rd) we saved $280. With that money I got a rental car for 2 days, 1 night hotel in Key West and 1 night hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The total was about $30 more so we get to extend our vacation 2 days and will be home Christmas morning at 10:50am. The girls really want to drive down the Keys and go to an Alligator Farm so I'll have my mom put a few presents under the tree from Santa and we'll go straight to my grandma's house for Christmas with the family when we get home. :santa:
Airfare and 1 hotel are already paid for and cruise will be paid for in August so I'm thinking for Christmas, I'll let the girls do their own Christmas shopping this year. I too tend to overdo it so instead, I'll let them each spend $XX.xx amount of dollars on new clothes before we sail and then another $XX.xx amount of dollars on things they buy on the cruise. I'm going to spend that money any ways so why not let them go a little crazy and get fun things. Things like more trading pins, new outfits for Duffy and other things they don't need but really want when they get caught up in the moment. Sounds like we may need an extra suitcase for the flight home!

I just checked and the IGT rates are available again. It is also still on the Special Offer page on the DCL website.

Which airlines did you find these great rates? I checked yesterday and the costs were $300 pp to fly home on 12/23. We are considering flying home on 12/24 because it's down to $180pp.

We booked United a few weeks ago. I saw today they have Fort Lauderdale - Los Angeles for $179 on 12/24 or 12/25 or FL to Orange County for $203 on 12/25 and $210 on 12/24 (same flight on Sunday is $407)

Does anyone know when we will find out our cabin number if we booked an IGT rate? Is it weeks ahead or the day of?
Thanks! :goodvibes

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Looks like we have a bimodal distribution of kids - either 'littles' or 13 year olds! How many tweens and young teens are there, anyway? What fun for them all to have chums in their age groups.

Happy day, all!

Help me out if I missed someone. I think I have the ages as of when we sail; :jumping1:
Chernabog#1fan from Orlando, FL has DD - 13 and DS - 10
Moby from Nevada has DD - 14 (Moriah)
dthouge from PA has DD - 14 (Brenna)
Coke Zero from CA has DD - 13 (Katie) and DS - 11 (Will)
BTH from San Diego, CA has DS - 13 (Hunter)
skoi has DS - 14
DindelsPA from Poconos, PA has DD - 13 (Patricia) - (Thank you Marla)
So Cal Crew from Huntingtin Beach, CA I have DD - 14 (Summer) and DD - 13 (Autumn) :chat:
schepp has DD - 12 (Cailey)

I'll try to PM everyone so the kids can talk. My girls play soccer, wake board, ride quads and dirt bikes, are in girl scouts and are doing jr life guards this summer at the beach. (Just a few fun facts looking to find a few things in common.)

Great idea! :woohoo: I'm thrilled that there are so many 13-14 year old girls!

I've got one more to add to your list:
DindelsPA - DD 13

Moriah will be 14 yo and in 8th grade at cruise time. I'm not sure if she'll go to Edge or Vibe since 14 yo's have a choice. She is homeschooled, snowboards, rides horse, cross country/track, attends youth group, likes to read, hang out with friends, play wii, loves animals.... She has an email address, but not facebook.

Moriah would probably love to ride quads, dirt bikes and wakeboard, if given the chance! :)

Man, I thought we got a good deal when we got flights from Ft. Lauderdale to SFO on Jetblue for $250 each:scared1: Luckily it is just for two of us, but I am jealous of those flights under $150! We could have waiting a day and saved about $70 each, but since we are already going to be away from the kiddos for 2 weeks, I thought it best we get home!

I am hoping Disney continues some of the Pixar Themed activities they are advertising for the Mexican riviera cruises for our PC cruise. Some of the ideas sound fun!:goodvibes

This will be so much fun for the kids! I know my DD has been emailing some of the others.

My DD is Brenna - is 14 and will be in 9th grade this fall. I'm not sure either which club she will chose - I'm thinking probably the Edge, but I guess it will depend on what the others do :) She is a dancer - tap, hip hop, jazz, modern, lyrical, pointe and ballet - outside of that she is on the swim team and runs cross country and track for the school.

Decisions, decisions. I just checked, and for us FLL to SFO it is $180 on 12/24. We can upgrade for a total price of $254pp (plus miles) and get our bags free. I think I will still wait and see what SWA offers next week, but the luxury of first class and free food on the flight may make it worth it to use miles if SWA is around the same price.

DD Katie will be 13 at cruise time and shows chickens and diary goats in 4h, does cross country and track at school and loves the water. She has an email address and would love to meet some girls before the cruise. DS Will is 11 and loves Legos and video games. He is a young 11 and he's hoping to find a friend on the cruise also. Two weeks can be a long time with only your sibling for companionship- even if you do love them!

Sounds like Will would get along great with my nephew, Luke. He also loves legos and video games and anything and everything sports related. Since he is only 9, he will be stuck in the lab. Is Will looking to hang out in the lab? Luke will be almost 10 and gets along better with older kids and I am sure he would love a friend. Any excuse not to hang out with his little sister. Maybe we can arrange for them to meet on the first day.

Sounds like Luke will get along great with my 9 year old Josh. Josh loves video games and spends quite a lot of time in the Lab playing video games. It's a real treat for my kids since we don't own a video game system other than their handheld Nintendo ds'. Josh also loves watching and playing all sports!

I think they would get along great- though Will is not too into sports. He would love to hang out anywhere he has a friend to talk and play with. Meeting the first day sounds great! :yay:

I too are hoping to hook DD up with a friend. Otherwise it may be a long two weeks for her parents! I looked at the FE list and there're only two other girls in the 8-12 group. I sure hope there are more girls in that age group on the cruise!

Hi all!

We were at WDW for the week before Mother's Day, and I am still playing catch up! I had a month's worth of posts to catch up on.

Welcome to all the new members! I just finished updating the Roll Call (Page 6, Post 77) based on posts and any PM's I received. We added 11 new Dissers and their families! Please double-check that I have everything correct, and if there's anything you want changed, added or removed, please PM me.

I also updated the PC Certificates list (Page 6, Post 79). Just a reminder, this list is only a guide. I will be confirming quantities and names as we get closer.

Now to catch up on responding to all those other posts!

Liz
