For those getting passports, I just want to share that they are being processed very quickly. We applied for DD's on 9/29 and the new passport came 10/10, less than 2 weeks from when we went in.:)

Good thing cuz I haven't even sent off for the girls yet. Last year we just got the pass cards and that worked fine for Mexico but since we're going to Columbia, it won't work this time. I hope to get it done this week. Nothing like waiting for the last minute.

We did our DSs passport application a week ago. It was so hard finding a day when both DH and I were home, when we could get DS out of school and over to the post office! I blocked out a 2hr window on our calendar so we would be forced to do it. His current one expires early January, and I didn't want to run into any problems with those dates. The lady processing the application asked if we wanted to expedite, and I declined, so I hope our timing is as quick as has been reported.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Tough about the deer accident. When I hit one, because it was a deer, they didn't charge the deductable - maybe you'll be that lucky too! (A big deductable saves money when you *don't* have an accident because the premiums are lower)

Home safe and sound. Unpacking, laundry and then - LET THE CRUISE PLANNING BEGIN!

Happy Day, all!

thanks so much for any extras that folks can spare!

We have an AMAZING group of participants  in the FE - I have heard from many of you that are willing to gift to our newcomers. Thank you for helping to make the cruise "Wonder"ful for everyone!

It is truly :wizard: magical the joy in giving!

We too have extras and are more than happy to keep giving!

Morning Cruisers,

Today my DH and I celebrate our 24th Wedding Anniversary - this cruise is our gift - hoping to do Hawaii next year for the 25th!

:bday: Our oldest DD turns 23 tomorrow - boy does that make me feel old!!

Went shopping yesterday and bought a black dress for formal and semi-formal nights. It was exactly what I was looking for, so I'm happy :yay:

Need to buy DH 2 dress shirts and ties - but man they are expensive :scared1: (so glad he doesn't dress like that for work). I'm trying to match DD's dress and the color is proving to be very hard to match.

Have a "Wonder"ful day!

Happy Anniversary!

My DS (only child) is 37, so don't feel old LOL!!!

I thought I was going to have to buy some things for formal and semi-formal wear, but I've lost enough weight that my lovely "little black dress" fits again, as does the very nice formal suit that I wore for my niece's wedding some years ago. Instead, I spent the money on lots of new things to wear the rest of the time on the cruise, because most of my cruise wear is too large. Now if only I can figure out how to get my things into one suitcase, I'll be in great shape!

Congrats on the anniversary.

Try TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Ross for the dress shirts and ties. We get lots of DH's ties there for under $10. They have lots of dress shirts for under $20 if your DH is a normal size. We have a horrible time finding dress shirts for DH (so tall and lean) most stores don't carry a 15" neck with a 36/37 sleeve!

we have been away. My DH's uncle/Godfather died and we were about 4 hours from home for the funeral and showing. His parents have no internet. small town.
On the way to the funeral we hit a deer at 6:30 a.m.
we are all okay. scared the crap out of me. of course DH made a massive judgement error and made our deductible $2000. This is going to really limit our excursions now. We only really have the one in Columbia planned.

We can do the late FE people. Hate to give it away, but we are making magnets, so they are light and pack-able. was going to bring candy and some other small things, but we should be good. so we are doing all cabins.

taking our car to get looked at in the morning.

I quickly read through the last like 10 pages. I guess that's what happens when you don't have internet for 5 days.

Sorry to hear about your DH's uncle.

Oh, how scary, glad everyone is alright. I agree with Linda, when my DH hit a deer we didn't have to pay the deductible. The difference for us is that if you hit a deer, no deductible, but if you hit something else (like a tree) to avoid hitting the deer then you pay the deductible :confused3

I wish I had the problem - I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the beginning of the month and the doctor told me I have to lose weight - lost 6 pounds so far and hoping for a total of 20 by cruise time. My "little" black dress isn't really little :rotfl2:, but hoping that it is a little loser on the cruise.

Any weight loss tips you'd like to share?

Congrats on the anniversary.

Thanks for the tip - I will check there, luckily he is a 16 1/2, 34/35 size, it's just the color that's difficult to match with the dress.

As far as weight loss goes...

I walk 4 miles every day as part of my commute to work. It's actually four one-mile segments, two each way, with a five minute train trip in the middle. When I started, each segment took me over 20 minutes. Now when the train is late, like today, I can make it in seven minutes!!!

I drink gallons of water. I love water, and it keeps me from eating when I'm not really hungry but want something to do. I also take a nap every afternoon when I get home. How does that help with weight control? That's easy--if I don't take a nap, I eat. Things like cheese and crackers, cake, cookies, etc. If I'm napping I can't do that ;)! If I do snack now, it's carrots or other fresh veggies, which I love!

I also gave up stress and worry. If I can't fix it, then worrying about it and stressing over it will only add pounds and not answers. That was the hardest part of my "lifestyle change". If I can fix whatever, I'll do it. If not, I just have to let it go and deal with the consequences. All stress does is make me crazy!

My little black dress isn't all that little, but it is four sizes smaller than the outfit I wore for formal night on my cruise last November. I'm happy. I weight five pounds less than I did the day I graduated from high school and am back in the same dress size. I'm not small but any means, but I'm where I need to be.

Happy Anniversary! pixiedust: We spent two weeks in Kauai for our 25th and it was divine! Next year is our 30th so I'm hoping for a big trip somewhere. :)

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I live in the mountains and deer are a fact of life, but the worst I've ever experienced is one brushing my car (not a direct hit). It's always scary when they run out in front of you. We also have turkeys that will fly across the road...that's pretty darn frightening, too!

You're an inspiration! I completely agree about stress...it's a killer in so many ways. That's one of the reasons I gave up management and work in a different area of social services than I did before; still have stress, but not nearly as much, and I truly enjoy life. I also choose to work part-time, so DH and I have the ability to travel frequently and spend much more time together. People at work frequently remark how "calm" I am, but it's definitely a lifestyle choice :thumbsup2

DD also just found a "little black dress" to wear...seems to be a trend! ;)

Since you don't know what departing group you are in, or exactly what time the ship will be cleared for all ashore, it's kinda hard to pair up with another family in advance.

So far as disembarking, if you don't want to carry your luggage off the ship yourself, you can go to guest services and request tags to disembark early. We received Ariel tags and our group was called just after the walk offs. I did this the day before packing day. Laid them out so our room steward would not leave any other tags. So if you need to get off at the same time I would try this or carry your luggage off.

Happy news from me - We got to spend time with another granddaughter last night. She's 16 and has autism. She actually TALKED to us. We got a smile or two. AND she hugged me good bye (touching is an issue) That was HUGE and I am thrilled to see how 'well' she is doing.

Happy Day, everyone!

What an awesome thing to happen for the 2 of you. :goodvibes

Happy Anniversary! If you get a cruise for the 24th, whatcha gonna do for the 25th!

Oh and by the way, did everyone see that DCL is not allowing soft sided coolers out of Port Canaveral? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3011296

Just a heads up for those who usually brings one on when carrying adult beverages or other drinks. I haven't heard about it happening in San Pedro yet but I am assuming that it probably will go across the board at all ports. I'll put my carry on beverages in a rolling suitcase. I was wondering how I was going to carry 2 weeks worth of beverages anyways. I'll be able to fit more in a rolling suitcase. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info....
We always take a rolling cooler but will be using a rolling suitcase from now on. Not taking any chances by waiting until we get to the port to find out that they are banned from this port as well.

Glad to here you are okay after the accident.

Boy, we go away for one night and I have over 5 pages to catch up on! Spent the weekend in San Jose for our boys football games...we only live about 1 1/2 hours from San Jose, but of course one son had a game Sat night and the other one had one early Sunday morning. They love staying at hotels, so we thought that would be a lot better than having to get up really early!

For those FE late adds, I will definately be able to accomodate you as well. I was able to get a lot of them done this past week so I am feeling good that I will have them all done in the near future! Today I am working on my son's Halloween costume, so hopefully that goes well...he wants to be a bag of M & M's so I am sewing that today!

And to add our transportation from the port to FLL, we are using SAS as well and our flight leaves at 12:50pm, but we are hoping to get an earlier flight if we get there on time.

Thanks for the info regarding SAS from port of Miami to Fort Lauderdale airport. Have booked the shuttle as well.
Now...for people staying at DLR prior to the cruise how are you getting to the port? Are you using Disney shuttle or have set up your own transportation?
I think that that is the last thing other than packing that I have to do....I hope!!
