I bought an item on ebay and paid for it on 11/28. I haven't heard anything from the seller and my package hasn't gotten here. I don't even need it anymore. I did recently send an email asking what happened and I've gotten no response. anyone know what procedure I should follow. At this point, I want my money back and not the item, is this possible? TIA

If you paid thru paypal then file a claim with them.

You can also request the seller's information from eBay - they'll send you the sellers telephone number so you can reach out that way. I recently had to do this and then felt awful when I found out it was an elderly woman who had been in a bad car crash - they didn't know how to access her account so things had been building up for about two weeks.

Yeah I do know the people just had a baby. When the auction originally ended, I had gone away and didn't realize it for about a week. So when I cme back, I contacted the seller's and asked if it was too late to send payment and the husband emailed me back and told me that the wife had just had a baby, but it was all boxed sitting by the door ready to be shipped. Well, like I said that was on November 28th. I know having a new baby is a challenge, but I'm sure 1 of them has left the house in the past month and could have taken it to be shipped. Also, on their feedback, I noticed although they only have 3 negative all 3 are because they never shipped the item the person paid for. Even some of the positives so that the shipping was very slow, but the item was just as they described when it got there. I took HayGan's suggestion and filed a claim through paypal.

You're right - you know they've been out for at least their sanity!!!!

I'm glad you filed the claim - Good for you!

I just had the same thing happen. I bought 3 wreaths at the end of Nov and never received them. I e-mailed a few times...never heard back.
I finally filed with paypal b/c it's almost $40.
I hated to do it, but all the guy had to do was e-mail me back and tell me not to expect them for Christmas...
Hopefully you'll get this resolved soon. Good luck!

Just file with PayPal. There will be a box asking for the resolution you want. Say you want a full refund because the items are so delayed they are no longer needed.

Oh no I already filed and I didn't see that box. In the part where you can make a comment, I di say that I'd like my money back though. I mean my item was only $11.00, but it's the principle. Also, because it seemed they've done this before based on their feedback. I noticed they don't have any new items up for auction. I hope everything is ok with their baby. I feel sort of bad, but all they had to do was email me back and let me what was going on.

That was the right place! I just wanted to make sure you asked for your money back or else the seller maight just mail the box that you no longer need because of the lateness. :)

I too, have been waiting almost 3 weeks after the seller said "it was sent right away". When i emailed that it hadn't arrived, he said he'd send another. That too, was about a week ago. And since then, no response to emails. AND, he has no other items up for auction which makes me very suspicious.....

I keep hoping both he and the USPS are just busy and that it'll arrive soon, but i'm getting really concerned since Christmas is so close.

So, any advice how long i should wait to ask for a paypal resolution?

TIA.

Topping -- does anyone have an opinion? Please? Considering what happened with that other seller, i'm very leery now and really don't think my item is coming either. Would appreciate anyone's input.

Rocking Rep: I would file with Paypal now. If he didn't send you a delivery confirmation number there wouldn't be a way for you to know the box was just taking too much time in the mail. Once you file with PP, there is a 10 day period you have to wait for the seller to respond. Once the 10 days are over, if the seller never responded then they find in your favor and refund the money. If the seller responds then PP contacts you for more information and a "specialist" makes a determination. That can take 30 days.

I have filed 2 times. The first while the seller didn't respond to PP I got a message than the item was on its way and it did arrive within days of filing. The second time the seller didn't respond and I got my money back on day 10.

Thank you so much for the reply and advice. I will do that right now.

Unless the item has buy protection, then you aren't guarenteed your money back. Once I had a seller that was a total fraud, but they took the money out of their paypal account and so there was nothing to give back to me.

The long story was that this lady was selling girl scout cookies on ebay... extra boxes that her troop had. Well I bought one and it was a scam. Not too big of a deal to me cause I was out like $3, but she did this to hundreds of people! So stay away from ebay sellers pretending to be troop leaders! ;)
