I am trying to find a specific type of dining room table with chairs.
My research has indicated that most tables listed on ebay do not sell. (try doing an advanced search on "completed items only" with a couple of description words. Not only will you see what has been sold in the past couple of months, you'll see what type of pricing the items are going for.
We purchased a roll top desk this summer through ebay. It was an absolutely awsome transaction - so I wouldn't hesitate to purchase furniture on ebay.
Some things you may want to consider in your choice to offer a large item - what will you do if a potential buyer wants to see the furniture prior to bidding on it? How will you take payment? In our purchase - the seller was absolutely OK with us bringing cash to with us. If I was a seller - I think I would want a paypal payment before I had strangers in my home.
Also - if you are having people pick up the items - make sure you schedule a time when there will be other people at your house. Just for safety sake.
Now - my personal opinion on reserves. I just don't get them. If you won't accept less than $100 for an item - why not just start the bidding at that. I personally don't bid on anything that has a reserve. I just don't play that game.
