Ebay your way to USO?

I just paid $102.50 on Ebay for the following:

AMAZING UNIVERSAL STUDIOS PACKAGE & HOTEL & AIR

This is an amazing deal that comes right from Universal Studios and the Ramada Plaza Resort

My company gave me this great vacation package but unfortunately I am not going to be able to use it so I am hoping someone else will be able too

you receive 3 nights in Orlando Florida at the Ramada Plaza Resort... then you receive 2 Adult universal Orlando VIP tickets (these can be used at either the islands of adventure or the movie theme park)

Plus you get a free companion air fare.... so its a buy one get one free deal...

Not only that but for only an optional $298 you receive a 2 for 1 round trip imperial majesty cruise (this is a 2 night Caribbean cruise) THIS IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL!!!!

Everyone in my company is using these a quick summer getaways, you only have to book it roughly 30 days in advance...

So you get 3 nights at a resort, plus 2 for 1 airfare on any major airline and theme park tickets.... and for an OPTIONAL 298 you can get a 2 for 1 cruise to the Caribbean

This is truly an amazing offer.. blah,blah.


What do you think I got? I asked what a VIP ticket was and got an email saying its a one day/ one park pass that they let you in an hour early and stay an hour late. Right? Never heard of that. He said there is no expiration. I looked the hotel up on TripAdvisor and the reviews were not that good and they show rates starting at $69. We have never stayed north of Universal in Orlando. I don't think I got taken too bad since the 1 day/1 park pass is over $50 each.
I'm not doing any of the options like the cruise or flying.

If anyone is interested he has 3 more posted with the minimum bid now at $150.

Wouldn't "this" imply ONE? Then how is he listing so many?

Airfare is 2 for 1 on major airlines? Cruise is 1/2 price at $298 but I'm not going to do either. It does sound fishy that he had 4 packages unless he told 3 other people from work that he would try to sell the packages for them on Ebay. He also has Las Vegas trips?
Oh well I've lost money on Ebay before and am still dumb enough to use it again.

Could be an HR type selling them and not distributing them to employees. Buy a full fare at $ 300 and companion is free. rather than getting two discounts for $ 100 each. By the way Discount Airlines are having Super Sales right now. But at $ 102 good deal for the tickets and getting a free hotel.

Ebay stopped the auction (probably) for copyright violations. They stopped the auction after I had won it and sent payment via Paypal. Do you think I'll get my money back?

No. I emailed him to just send it but no answer yet. Funny thing is he still has 2 of the same thing auctions posted? Why did Ebay just shut down the auction that I won?

I would contact e-bay & ask some questions, let them know that the one you won has been removed but that there are 2 other listings as well.... I think I would also alert my credit card company since you haven't heard from the seller yet?!?!?

Those will get shut down as well. If you don't hear from him today get on the phone with paypal.

These people make me so mad! Why would you want to rip someone off like this?!!! I hate to be negative but I am sure that if Ebay shut them down there's a good reason! Definitely, do not wait, contact Ebay AND Paypal(although they are one in the same company,) you'll be covered and hopefully able to retrieve your money.

Please people, if something sounds too good to be true it usually is! Only buy from legit sources like the themeparks themselves or another known source. Ebay is not the way to go to purchase any of these things.

They can shut down auctions for a variety of things so he may not be ripping her off. Please keep us updated on what happens today. Paypal has live phone customer service so you can actually speak to someone about what happened and how you can get your $$ back if need be.

Did eBay send you an email telling you NOT to complete the sale? Let PayPal know this and see if you can get your money back. Explain the problem to them and see what they do.

There are lots of travel brokers using these "packages" to make money. They use direct mail, faxes and the phone to peddle their wares. Many times the "price" is based on off season and you can never book your travel at the times you want or they expect you to book a few months in advance.

In short, buyer beware...

The seller emailed that Ebay shut him down because he was in the wrong catagory or something. I read a little about Ebay's policy and the guy violated several rules. He said he put the package in the mail.

Ebay sent an e the day after the auction ended saying that they were ending the auction early? Being a good little ebuyer I had already paid for it. The e's I sent to Ebay were answered as if I were the seller. I gave the Seller the benefit of the doubt and he finally e'ed that he was unjustly shut down and the package was in the mail.

I will let ya'll know about season vs. off-season. I don't think Ramada does Timeshares. I hate those!

Ramada Plaza is the place I stayed at to do a Fairfield timeshare that also included tickets to Universal. With exception to the airfare, it sounds alot like the Fairfield promos posted on skyauction.

I also get snail mail offers from Fairfield to do the 2for1 cruises. It really sounds like this dude is trying to sell Fairfield timeshare tours.

Ouch! Usually a timeshare on Ebay requires that the bidder be 21 and make at least $40k and agree to sit through a 2 hr. etc, etc.
