Hope I can ask this on the budget board... i've seen a few ebay questions, so here's mine. I just won an auction for a faceplate for my phone (just 1). The seller emailed me to say that they didn't have the design that I bid on. He/She offered to refund my money or send me 2 different faceplates and another gift instead. I'm going to accept the offer, but should I leave a negative feedback for this?
It is being resolved.... but it really shouldn't have happened in the first place.
Not sure what to do about the feedback.
What do you think?
Thanks for your help!!

I wouldn't leave negative. Personally, I would probably leave positive feedback, but in my note indicate that I wish they'd had the original item I requested, but apprecite their effort to make good.

If you don't feel comfortable leaving a positive, then perhaps a neutral. I just think a negative might be too harsh. It sound like they're doing their best to correct their error.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't leave neg. feedback for the seller. She is trying to fix the problem & even offered you your money back. I don't think she deserves neg. feed back, I would leave positive feedback for her but that's just me. If you don't want to leave pos., leave neutral but I don't think neg. is fair.

Definitely not a neg, MAYBE a neutral but you could also leave positive with the comment that you did not receive same item that you won. I would also look at their present feedback and see if this is a regular occurence. If it's a regular occurence, i would be more inclined to leave the neutral, using the same comment.

I agree with the other posters, as I would also leave a pos. stating that although the desired product not available, seller worked to make up for the error. Seller does deserve some credit for wanting to correct their mistake. Although I know it is frustating that they didn't have what you are bidding on, the seller has given you options and wants to add to the replacement order if you accept it. Seems they are worth dealing with and want repeat business if the need arises. This is just My opinion though!!Good luck with your decision.

I wouldn't leave negative - but WHY DID SHE PUT it on auction, if she didn't have it????

You don't have to leave feedback at all. Just complete the deal and not bid on any other items from this seller

In any case, let the seller leave feedback first - and there is no rule that says seller or buyer has to leave first.

I agree with this, you didn't lose any money and the situation was resolved, but if it's happened alot with other buyers you may want to leave a neutral, but definitely not a negative.

This happened to me awhile back. The seller misplaced the item and offered me my money back or a different one. I took the other and asked when she found it to please let me know instead of listing it again I would pay the ageed upon price. I left postitive feedback with no mention of her error. Well lo and behold about 4 months later I got a package in the mail- it was the original item sent at no charge! I emailed her and thanked her, offering to pay but she said that since I had bought so much other stuff from her to not worry about it. That was very kind.

As a seller on Ebay I would definately not leave negative feedback...
Many sellers have multiple auctions for items and may have buy it now options on thier auctions as well as standard auctions, and items may go out of stock. The seller is being very nice in offering you money back or 2 faceplates... Negative feedback should be reserved for people who are unwilling to work things out with you or ship items they have sold. Also be aware they can and probably will in return leave you negative feedback as well. Sometimes sellers can make honest mistakes and having myself sold over 230 items with no negative feedback we do try our best to accomodate for our errors... hope this helps :flower:

I wouldn't leave a negative. It honestly seems like the seller is trying to make this right.

I agree with these statements. I would be PO'ed if my buyer agreed to an alternative solution and then left me a neg anyways after I tried to fix the problem.

I wouldn't leave negative. She gave you an option and you accepted it so I'd see how the faceplate is and leave appropriate feedback. If you leave positive you can always add something about not being the exact item you bid on.

I would leave positive FB with a message to the effect "Item Bid On Became Unavailble, Resolution was Statisfactory"

Thank you for your replies... I will leave positive feed back (as long as nothing goes wrong). It sure helped me to have your responses!!!

I would leave a message like "Seller did not have what I bidded on, but resolved issue immediately." (Positive).

Anyone can make a mistake, it's owning up to it and resolving it that shows integrity.

I do buy items on ebay, and truthfully I would not leave a negative for this situation, but a neutral would best fit the bill. If you leave a positive but include "seller didn't have item but offered substitute", most likely no one else will look at it. When I purchase from a seller, I don't read all of the positives, just a few. By leaving a neutral it will not hurt the sellers feedback numbers at all, but you are sending the message that they should have the item in stock if they are going to list it.
