I have been shopping around on ebay for some baby items and keep coming across this one seller who is obviously a "store" as opposed to someone selling their own used baby stuff. The description always says "We are a smoke free home." But no real indication that the ITEM is from a smoke-free home.

I know, I know--stupid thing for me to complain about, but I'm going to complain anyway!

I am a bit confused.... How ELSE would they indicate it was from a smoke free home?

The seller is one of those companies that resells stuff for other people. A middle-man. The description indicates that the middle-man is smoke-free, but nothing about the original owner of the items.

Did you send a message to inquire?

I think that you are over thinking it. If it smells smoky, complain.

Based on what you know of him, I think he's being crystal clear.. His home is smoke-free.. However, he sells for others (or picks up items in thrift stores, garage sales, etc.) and therefore can not truthfully say that the items are from a "smoke-free" home..

I was really excited to see this post but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I've been frustrated with ebay the last two times I have sold items. I think the fees have gotten unbelievable! In addition, paypal fees have really sky rocketed over the last few years. Also, I have 99 transactions. Recently, I sold a camera. Ebay held my funds but instructed me to ship anyway (not normal practice). When I inquired they said it was new policy...they hold if transaction is more than a $100, you have few than 100 transactions or you have negative feedback (my is all positive). They also said electrics transactions are red flagged as being suspicious. A few years ago I sold a SRL camera that I hated. It was a $300 transaction and no funds were held. Convienent how payapl held my $$ about 7 days...earned interest the whole time I'm sure.

I have been buying and selling on ebay for several years now. While I am no fan of higher fees, I appreciate their new policy of holding funds for some transactions.

A number of times over the years, I have bought something and either not received it or there was something wrong with what I did receive. For most of these, I simply filed a complaint through PayPal and gotten my money back. However, on two occasions, they were not able to refund my money because the seller had withdrawn it from their account and bolted with my money. These PayPal holds will stop some of these bad apples from getting away with this behavior.

It should also be noted that as I understand the policy, you only have to show that the item was shipped in order for your money to be released.
