Ebay-Strange Bid Pattern-Anyone else experience?

Hi,

I have an item listed on Ebay that has 4 bids, all by the same person, all for the same price on different days and times. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm thinking that it's an Ebay problem. It's an inexpensive item ($2.49).

The person who bid has 36 positive feedback and no negatives. I wasn't sure if I should contact them just to make sure. I didn't want to spook them if it's a weird Ebay system problem. Since the bid amounts are all the same I thought it must be an Ebay generated glitch.

Hi,
What they are doing is raising their maximum bid of what they are willing to pay for the item. They are basically bidding against themselves so the price doesn't raise. For example, the first bid he put in might have been your opening bid, then the bidder might have really wanted the item and bid 3 more times, upping the maximum he's willing to pay. This isn't a glitch, I actually have an item up right now with 2 bids by the same person, but the price stays the same. Bidders might do this so they don't have to watch an auction or they might not be home when the auction ends.

Oops, didn't read that correctly...

I didn't realise people could keep going back and upping their maximum...if that is the case then I wouldn't worry, they must really want it! Now keep your fingers crossed that someone else wants it too!

Nope, normal. They are just uping their final bid in case someone comes in to try to outbid. They are raising their final price - a few times. It's not a fluke, it happens often.
