Well, first, ebay OWNS Paypal, so that explains that.

But no, not all sellers use Paypal, there are other options - someone just today or yesterday was asking about another payment service here.

But Paypal should be the easiest for most people - especially buyers - to use, since so many people already have accounts there.

I wouldn't use anything else when buying on ebay.

Same here. I don't buy if the seller doesn't take Paypal. Checks and/or money orders are just too much of a hassle and it could be weeks to get an item by the time a check clears.

I would not buy if the seller did not take Paypal either. Just more secure than sending a cheque/money order.

Since eBay doesn't allow payment using checks or money orders anymore except in a few very specific categories, you don't have this option anyway.

Yes ebay requires you to accept paypal or another credit card type payment. I have had buyers ask me if they can send a money order and I have no problem with that. You just cant advertise it so you dont get many who ask actually

I am a Power Seller and I usually add a pay upon pickup option. I think when you do that it's understood that I take other forms of payment. Some people call and ask if I will take a check or credit card and thats fine. I have a check scanning machine like they have at the bank so I don't mind. I prefer other credit cards because the fees are less and people have more protection, the sense of security that Paypal offers is false, but there are many other boards with that thread!

When I tried to pay with just my credit card, the checkout went straight to paypal. IT was so weird. I backed out and tried again, went to paypal. did you notice this if you've bought anything?

You might have to contact seller, not everyone takes credit cards and such, it depends on the seller. I have a big retail store so I might be different.

I don't think you understand. EVERYONE on ebay takes paypal. So you have no choice but to use paypal once you set up a paypal account.

the transaction IS going straight to paypal , no choice.

this is for buying. not sure about selling items.
