So I have a LOT of clothes that I no longer want. Is it worthwhile to sell them on Ebay? I'm getting no where with them on Craigslist (baby things are going, but not clothes/accessories). What's the best way to list them? I'm not experience buying or selling on Ebay.

Thanks for the tips. :)

Unless your clothes are all name brand and worth a decent amount, in my opinion it won't be worth your time and effort to do eBay. I'm a powerseller on ebay so I am definitely supportive of selling there when appropriate, but I have given up on selling already worn clothing there. You have to describe the item perfectly, and then even when you think you have there will be buyers with tons and tons more questions about the sizing and fit. You also need to take plenty of pictures. And then you run the risk of it not fitting when they get it, etc. And you end up making probably less than $5 per item (if that) after fees and everything, and just the fact that used clothing doesn't sell for a lot usually.

Where you probably would have some luck is on facebook, if you have a facebook account. Most cities have quite a few garage sale or swap groups. In my area they are almost all called swap shop or swap & shop. Just get on and start searching terms like that and you'll find groups around you. I have sold quite a few things that way actually - clothes, bedding, shoes, etc - things that wouldn't be worth my time on ebay.

I second trying to find a garage sale page for your area on facebook. I have found it easier to sell kid's stuff on there than craigslist or ebay lately. My area has several on these pages and some are specific to certain catergories and I list stuff on all the pages. Just make sure if you meet someone on facebook who wants your stuff, that you meet them in a public place. Selling out used items is one way we save up for Disney.

Thanks, I will look into Facebook and see what I can find. Most of the clothes were worn once or twice, and some not at all. I really need to get rid of it though, it's taking up too much space.

If you can't find one, for your town or city, start one. Others will join. The one for my town is a facebook page with the town name then online yardsale. Then you can post pics and prices.

Well I found one page that looked promising but when I looked at what others were selling it included monkeys (yes, real animals), silver coins and um, some adult costumes, just in the first items I scrolled through, lol.

hahaha oh my!! I agree that you might have luck starting your own group. A friend of mine actually started one of the groups...it started with her and just a handful of other young moms to trade/sell their gently used baby items. It now has over 5,000 members and people sell all kinds of things on there!

ETA: you can go to ebay and see what like items have sold for and that might give you a better idea. You can search 'BCBG gold dress' or whatever, and it will come up with ones for sale currently, but you can also view listings that have ended to give you an idea of if the item will sell at all, and if so, for how much. You can count on about 10% (sometimes a little more) in fees plus shipping costs (which you can charge the shipping to the buyer).

Even real garage sales are iffy for adult clothes, you may want to try a consignment shop. The only things I had luck with on Ebay was DD's Gymboree clothes, even the other high end things sometimes didn't sell. I had some great garage sales though. I had name brand stuff of mine that didn't sell at my garage sale, while almost all the kid's clothes did.

Ugh, maybe I'll just donate it all. I'm not up to starting a new Facebook swap and there's no way to have a garage sale in NYC. The consignment shop in my neighborhood only takes designer items like Chanel and Prada, my stuff is from Talbots, Coldwater Creek, Macy's and Bloomingdale's for the most part. I just have so darn much, probably 200 things I want to get rid of.

Does anyone ever sell things all together? Does anyone look to buy a large amount like that?

I know nothing at all about it but I keep seeing ads for Poshmark on Facebook. Is that something you could try?

I'm with you!...Here in the city it is tough!...You could try Buffalo Exchange stores. They screen clothes carefully, but will offer you cash or credit for what they like. You don't get much, but for stuff you can't use, It's not horrible. Jane's exchange is credit only, but does kids clothes and other items.

If you find a way to sell...Facebook or something, please PM me!

Near me we have a flea market. I rent a table and do really well. Of course it's weather permitting though. In the winter I sell my name brand things (Gap, Gymboree, etc) on eBay. I group a bunch of clothes together and sell it as a lot. This way I save time on making listings, taking pictures and I don't have to make separate trips to the post office. I usually ship Priority flat rate mail. So there is one cost for everyone and I don't have to guess on the shipping prices. I hope this helps, good luck! :thumbsup2
