ebay question

For all you ebay experts out there:

I won an auction for a concert DVD and used my PayPal account to deposit the $14.00 in the sellers account. The next day I received an email from ebay saying they cancelled the sellers account and I should not continue with the transaction if it was done outside of ebay's control. I reversed the payment via PayPal and then the seller emailed me asking why I did that. I did not confront the seller with the information I received from ebay, I guess I should have. But anyway, my question is, should I reinstate my PayPal payment to this seller (I have not received the item, by the way) or just let the issue die?

I would talk to the seller and see if they could give any explanation on why their seller account was cancelled. Look at their feedback rating. You don't want to lose your money to a bum seller, and on the other hand you don't want to receive negative feedback. If EBAY is cancelling the sellers account, there may be a good reason for it.

I would not reinstate payment. Ebay must have had a good reason for cancelling the seller's account. I would suspect that if you went ahead and reinstated the payment now, you wouldn't be covered by Ebay in the event that this person doesn't come through on their end.

I wouldn't resend payment. HOWEVER, I would sit on it and watch for a few days. After 5-7 days see if you can contact the seller via ebay. This happened to my sister when she forgot to pay her ebay fee's. So, they might be reinstated in a few days. She had to pay and then was suspended for something like 5 days.
