Ebay Question regarding a cancelled listing ????

Hi, I have listed things on EBAY many times and this is the first time this has happened to me so I am totally confused as to why.....

I just got home to an email from Ebay that one of my Lane Bryant Venezia items was cancelled due to "spam"..... Huh? I had only listed it 36 hours ago and had 10 people watching it, so I would like to get it back up but I checked out the ebay link to "explain" why it was cancelled and it is just a bunch of giberish to me!!!

Anyone have any ideas why they would have knocked it out? Was it the use of the store name? I use Eddie Bauer & Gap a lot as that is where the items came from, I am not lying or misrepresenting the item. I don't get it.

I'd appreciate any input as I really want my listing back up!!! Any ideas how to list a Lane Bryant Venezia item if using that name is really the no-no???

P.S. I made over $600 last month on EBAY!!! I want to do it again this month - It is all going to pay for my August "bonus" trip!

Are you certain that your auction has been cancelled by Ebay? I know that there are 'Spoof' artists out there that really have become very sophisticated in making their emails appear to be from Ebay when they aren't. They usually just want your password or user ID. Did they ask you to enter any personal information in the reply email? Ebay would never do that. Your best bet would be to just go to the Ebay website and send them an email asking about your problem. They will let you know if your email was from them or not.

BOP28- THANKS for your reply. It really seems to be from Ebay - as they have links to their rules, etc and when I went to my "selling" page, I was down that item and another also!! I have received those fake emails from Ebay and Paypal.

I am really bummed - I am selling mostly other brands that they haven't touched, but I have several Lane Bryant things listed. The ones that are Venezia, I relisted without stating L.B. in the title. Don't know if that will do the trick. Others I just changed to L Bryant and maybe that will get them off my backs. I am not a super seller or whatever they are called & I don't know why they have come after me!!??

As much as I have had success on Ebay, between them and Paypal, they really can be a pain in the ---- not to mention charge a whole lot between the two!!(or one, as I think Ebay owns paypal now )

Gosh, how awful! I've been listing quite a bit on ebay the past few months also getting ready for vacation. Isn't it great that there's an option like that? I am amazed at how much the combined fees can add up to some months but I just love the convienence of listing one day and having money I can withdraw from my paypal debit card the next. YESSSS!!!

Did you list other names in the description perhaps? You mention other stores. If there are other names in the listing description - even in a sentence that says something like "check my other items for gap, eddie bauer, ect. " That could be considered key word spamming.
I think the L Bryant name itself would have come up under a VERO violation if that was the problem and not as keyword spamming though I could be wrong.
As for why they'd pick on you... My best guess is that somebody reported one or more of your auctions, perhaps another seller or a bidder with nothing better to do.
When I first started selling a few years ago I had a couple auctions cancelled for keyword spamming. My error was in one of my last sentences asking bidders to check my other items and naming one or two related, but not identical, things. Discovered that even listing the names of the other Amer Girl dolls on the listing for just one was a no-no, even though I had the others listed for sale as well that week.
It's my understanding that you can say "check my other items" but not what they are.

If you list other brands that have nothing to do with what you're selling, it's spam. For example, if you were selling reeboks and your auction title was "Reebok Not Nike Addidas Rockport", that would be considered spam. Or if you had something like that in your text (ie. These Reeboks are great and are so much better than ... list of other brands.)

But without seeing one of your auctions, it's hard to say. One thing to note is that Ebay rarely pulls anything unless somebody's reported you.

Thanks for the replies!! My husband thinks it was a mistake and I should email them about it- which I will do as PURTYPAT1 suggested, too.

My Ebay name is CRSIDI.

I don't agree that it would be "spam" because the items are what I listed them to be....."Lane Bryant Venezia"....so ??? Well I modified the listings a bit and hopefully people will still find the items.

Did you use a picture that wasn't yours? that happened to me when I went to sell my wedding gown. I went online, found a pic that was of my dress and used it. Well, they took it off. I had to take a pic myself and relist it.

Well, I've just taken a look at your auctions and I don't see anything wrong with them....certainly no spamming in my opinion.

I would just relist it and see what happens.

Either it's a mistake or a zealous Ebay underling was too quick to pull it without actually looking at it.

The Gap, Eddie Bauer and Lane Bryant don't seem to be in the VeRO program either. Besides, if they had pulled it because of VeRO, that should have been the reason they gave you, not spamming.

PXLBARREL - Thanks for checking and giving me your input. I am going to email them in the morn (too busy DISing right now - lol) and ask what's up with them. Pretty lame that people troll over the Ebay listings for competition - I just laugh at that as I am basically having an online garage sale!

Hi I want to know, too as I am running out of summer things to sell!!! I am a SAHM and Ebay is fun for me and keeps busy and I feel like I am contributing in more ways to our family, but I just sell things that I am not using so it would be great to know where to pick up things to start a home business.

PURTYPAT1I had my live Ebay chat this morning and they just really want to pass me off to Safe Harbor and basically the same inappropriate links they included in the emails they sent with the notice that the listings were cancelled - which is really next to no answer to my problem. I have tried to use the Safe Harbor before for my own purchase once, and it is NOTHING. That has been my biggest issue with Ebay - that I feel I am totally at their mercy!!

Well anyway, thanks for the info. It probably was a mistake or some Ebay flunkie just too quick on the button.

Ok guys, I will share my secrets to ebay.

Every Friday morn 9am to 11am I go to yard sales or Estate sales.
Saturday morns (if I am free) I do the same.

I buy, mostly perfumes, bath & body works, & pocketbooks & disney costumes.

I look for LV, or Gucci & coach. (I usually, find at least one coach every weekend) I make sure they are Authentic, clean them up, & resell.

I love perfumes, & makeup. Right now, I have Anne Klein 11 up, & it is selling quite high. It is discontinued.

My friend, who lives, about a half an hour from me, sells also. We give each other advice alot, & learn from one another.

Last year, she needed surgery, & she saved 10 thousand dollars in 4 months.
She really did work hard for it.

For me, I am only doing it, to put my daughter thru college, so I can stay home with my little one, & work part time.

I have become, quite good at selling. If I can help anyone please ask away.

PURTYPAT1That is so cool. I live in an upper middleclass area but I cannot imagine I would find Coach, LV, etc at a garage sale!! I will have to actually try, I think.

Last summer I had a garage sale and my friend told me to just watch- ladies would be pulling up in their lexuses and they were the Ebay sellers!! It was so true! We got a mix of Lexus type cars and the people that wanted Gymboree outfits for .10 cents!!

I later discovered Ebay and was bummed at the stuff I practically gave away at my garage sale & that I could have made at least 4X as much on Ebay with!!

Thanks so much for your tips & encouragement!! My husband makes a great income, but now that my kids are older (youngest is 5) I have spare time and it makes me feel good to contribute and have extra $$$$ !!

My stuff is still up there - Ebay hasn't cancelled anymore so I am keeping my fingers crossed it was just an error!!
