I'm not really sure where to post this one, but I figured the budget board might be the best spot.
What would you do?
We are going to Disney in 2 days!
I bought my DD a VERY expensive - but discounted and used Belle deluxe princess dress for her BBB appt for her birthday. I paid over $70 for the dress and the shipping. I didn't even pay that much for her flower girl dress for our wedding, so this is a splurge. I bought it 3 weeks ago with a promise that it would ship priority mail and be here in about 5 business days. The seller knew when we were leaving and why we bought the dress, and assured us it would be here in time.
After not receiving it when I should have, I contacted the seller, and she said something came up and she shipped it a week late. Well, I still don't have it and I leave in 2 days. I contacted her again, and she said she had to send it parcel post b/c priority would have cost $40 to ship and I paid $10 for shipping. (I think this is a load of bull b/c parcel usually only saves a few $.)Because it's parcel post, there is no tracking number, and it can take over 2 more weeks to get here.
Basically, I spent all this money on something we are never going to use. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it might come on Monday, but I am doubtful. I am also furious!!
What would you do? Should I file a complaint? Do I get my DD another dress? I really didn't want to spend another $80 on a dress in Disney.

It had nothing to do with the weight, but the "unusual"/large package surcharge. So if she packaged it in flat as others have said it easily could have cost $40+. Now my auction SPECIFICALLY stated Priority Mail so as a seller I feel my end of the deal was to ship HOW I stated what I would ship, no matter the cost to me vs what the buyer paid. I did however email the buyer and state the issue, offer a $5 refund to what she paid if she let me ship UPS Ground (which actually was only predicted to arrive 1 day later than Priority Mail). I also stated though that I would honor the original shipping method since I messed up the calculation. So after all that, my question is what did the auction state, if it didn't clearly state what type of shipping you bought, I am not sure you have recourse (of course assuming the package arrives). Also, not sure what the waiting period is for filing the non-shipment claim, I suspect it might be longer than you have waited so far.
