EBAY Newbie Seller

I just listed my very 1st item on Ebay. I've been buying on Ebay for years now and have always wanted to learn how to sell. Well, my son asked me to list a few items for him so he could buy a new MP3 player and I told him I had never done it. I hate not knowing how to do something (or admitting I can't do it) so I told him "sure, I'll do it Sunday"

I listed one item of my own, a BNWT leather purse I got for Xmas that is real nice but not my style. Wish me luck. I figured I'd wait a day or two and see if I did everything right and then list my DS items.

Anyone have any seller tips to share? Could use all the help I can get.

Listing just one item to sell is an excellent way to get started. Feel free to wait until the bidding is over and this item is paid for and shipped before you list another item.

I try to list items on Sunday night because I think most bidders are looking at that time, and also bidders like to bid late.

I admit that quoting shipping costs that seem high is unavoidable. You may want to pack the item (but not seal the package) first to see how much it weighs and be able to decide early whether to go with a slightly oversized box and higher shipping quote rather than spend hours loking for just the right size box.

You do not have to accept Paypal or credit cards on your first few items or at all.

If you accept paypal ALWAYS use delivery confirmation when shipping out packages.

If a buyer claims an item wasn't received and files for a refund with paypal, the ONLY proof that paypal will accept is a valid delivery confirmation number.

Unfortunately, there are some people on ebay who will take advantage of those who don't use delivery confirmation.
