Ebay feedback question

As a seller I wait until the buyer has left feedback and I then know the transaction is complete. I used to leave feedback as soon as I received payment....I got a charge back from Paypal and could not leave negative then since I already left positive. Also once people get feedback they can decide they have not received the item (sorry but everyone is not honest). I have bought 10 items recently and only one seller left me feedback prior to me leaving it first. As a buyer I always leave feedback as soon as I receive the item to let the seller know I received it and am satisfied. As a seller I like to think it would work the same way.

What exactly is a charge back? Does the buyer get their money back?
Yes. It's when the buyer contacts Paypal, and/or their credit card, and says they did not get the item. If you have a Personal account, I think you basically have no protection from sellers who do this. But I could be wrong. If you have a Premier account, and you shipped using a method that provides delivery confirmation, and you shipped to a confirmed address, you *probably* will win the dispute. But not always.

In my case Paypal did the charge back due to fraudulant activity on the buyer's checking account.

As a buyer I will leave feedback as soon as I receive the item and make sure it is as described. I recently purchased an item that was not as decscribed (not new, damaged). I emailed the seller stating I received the item, but it was not as described and I wanted a refund for the item and shipping both ways since the item was not what I was bidding on. The seller got back to me ASAP, we worked it out; I sent the item back, ended up with my refund and we left each other positive feedback because the transaction ended with satisfaction on both sides. I've had this situation happen to me twice in my 4 years of ebaying; both times I let the seller know that if the transaction was resolved I'd still leave positive feedback. I also leave more than "OK". I'll leave "great communication, worked out well" etc...

As a seller I will not leave feedback until I hear from the buyer that they are happy(or the time limit is up). I do not believe the transaction is complete until I know my buyer is happy with their purchase. Late last year I had a buyer email me and tell me my item was not as described, a video didn't work and she wanted a shipping refund. I knew that it worked and I knew from after-sale pre-shipping communications she had an issue with my non-inflated shipping price. I told her to send me the video back and if it didn't work in both my VCRs I'd refund her all her shipping monies but if it did work and she wanted it back she'd have to pay for re-shipping. I did not leave her feedback and I had no intentions of doing so until she left it for me. I was undecided between a nuteral or a neg for her trying to scam me but I knew (hunch) she was waiting for me to leave it so she could neg me. BTW, this was a $30 item she bought for $6 and paid $5 shipping on.

I cant believe some sellers have this attitude that hey when get around to it I will?? :confused3 I dont think they felt that way in the beginning when they needed that excellent feedback. It goes both ways IMO. I leave feedback when I receive payment from my buyer and I hope that once they receive their item they will do the same. When I buy something I leave feedback promptly when I receive the item and if I have a issue I'll email the seller and leave feedback once the issue is resolved. It takes like a second- if you have time to check your paypal account or list another item or bid another item - you have time to leave feedback for your buyers and sellers. :earsboy:

I HATE sellers who don't leave buyer feedback immediately after receiving payment. You know the ones... the ones that wait to see what kind of feedback you leave them? It drives me absolutely bonkers. They should be leaving feedback based on how quickly they received payment not waiting to make sure you say something nice about them first. :confused3

Yeah i agree I recently bought something amnd paid 60 seconds after end of auction
I emailed re Feedback to which he said If you can be bothered neither can I - You go first!!!
What a great way to speak to a customer..
