Hi.
I have posted my 3 auction on ebay...and while it has sold...the winner has not paid...IT CLEARLY STATES my terms in the auction and I restate this in the invoice that I sent to the winner...Still the winner has not paid. Her time will be up today...So now what do I do? How do I go about this? Can I offer it to the next highest bidder?
I would like to do this with out asking BF what to do...
Thanks

First a foremost open a NON PAYING BIDDER DISPUTE to get your Final Value Fee back. That can be going to your Items Sold page and it should be the last choice in your pull down menu "probably marked right now at 'MARK AS PAYMENT RECEIVED'"

Choose, Buyer has not paid for Item

Your Dispute will be open for 7 days (I know it sucks to wait) and on the 8th day if no response from the buyer was made you can close the dispute and get your fees back and relist your item or offer it to the next highest bidder as a 2nd chance offer...(the Buyer also will get a non paying bidder strike).

If you choose to not worry about getting the Final Value Fee back you can offer it to the next highest bidder via a 2nd chance offer ONLY AFTER you open a dispute and close it immediately by chosing you wish to no longer communicate with the buyer. You won't get your fees back and the buyer will not get an NPB strike against them... However you won't have to wait 8 days to sell your item again.

I'm often guilty of being away from my email and eBay for a few days, particularly on weekends. I know I should be watching if I'm bidding, but life gets in the way. Thankfully most of the people I've bought from have been pretty patient with me when I've been a bit show to pay.

I would check the buyers feedback. If it's very good, you might want to wait an extra couple of days in case they are just very busy right now.

I plan on sending another invoice with a note that says that the auction ended on xyz date and restate what my payment terms are. I'll give her an extra day or two but then I think I will offer the 2nd chance offer and call it good.
Thanks fo the help

I don't agree with that at all. The OP shouldn't be forced to continue waiting beyond the number of days they have already given the buyer for payment in case they may be busy. That is not good business sense. The buyer bid on an item and won. It is now their responsibility to pay in a timely manner. If the OP has tried contacting the winning bidder and hasn't received any response or payment by the last day, than the OP has every right to file an non-paying bidder.

Sure she has every right to do so. I'm just saying that a buyer with good feedback may just pay a day or so later than the terms and save all that hassle.

Is it a huge amount of money or just a few dollars? That would also make a difference to me.

Many eBay sellers are NOT businesses and a day or two delay is not going to make much difference in the great scheme of things. It's not like a real business floating thousands of dollars every day.

Remember though, You must personally CLOSE the auction using the Non-Paying Bidder option (just choosing to no longer communicate with the buyer instead of taking the additional steps to open up a NPB dispute) BEFORE you offer the 2nd chance. If you don't there could be a chance that the 2nd chancer accepts it and then the original buyer decideds to finally pay you... Then YOU get in trouble with E-bay for not honoring one or both of the auctions. Its best to CYOA.

Its not a lot of money...just something I wanted to get rid of and well did...(at least I was supposed to -now this person hasnt paid)
the persons time is up at about 1030pm tonight...I just find it wierd...the winner did have good feedback...but I guess some of you are right...why should I wait for someone who doesnt hold up their part of the bargain???
Personally, if I bid on something and see that I am going to be away when the auction closes-I email the person and let them know that should I win the bid I will be out of town when it closes and will do my best to get to a computer to make payment...however, if I dont this is the day I am due back...when I get home you better believe that the first thing I do after getting settled is check my email and make sure that if I won I make payment...that is only fair.

So, just to confirm (so I have this straight) I dispute the bid by selecting NPB...select to not have contact with this person again...wait 7 days...get my fees back and then offer a 2nd chance bid to the next highest bidder-do I have this right?

Yes you have it right... They will also ask you for a reason (you would select 'Buyer has not paid' as the reason). By not paying they have made you get charged the final value fee, so you have every right to want to get it back! I just completed one yesterday (8th day so I got my fees back, YAY) and have done 17 over the course of the last year. My DW changed our Password and I can't get her on the phone to tell me what it is or I would go deeper into the process for you.

Here is a link to Non Paying Bidder Process via ebay: http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/unpaid-item-process.html

I dont mean to sound silly...but what exactly is the final value fee? I know the last time I sold something on ebay I had to pay like $1.50...but didnt know what it was for...
And does paypal take a % out too...
I'm just too new to this...oh well live and learn
thanks for the help

Don't you have to wait 7 days after an auction ends to pay a NPB alert???

I filed a non-paying dispute and DID NOT close it, but it now says it is closed and we decided to continue with the transaction....can my dispute be closed by the buyer? She still hasn't paid and the auction was from 12-5. She promised three times to pay.

OK I sent the winner a 2nd invooice with mention that payment was due 72 hours after winning item and this time I put the date of the closing of the auction. Hopefully that will help.
Now I reading the info on non-paying bidders-do I have to wait 7 days from close of auction to report this...*I'm confused* I dont want to mess this up

This is from the ebay web-site...

...the seller must wait 7 days after a listing closes to file an Unpaid Item dispute.

I have a question...is this a paypal only auction???

72 hours? Gosh, eBay gives you three business days (which could be five days), to just get in contact. I assume you only accept Paypal. Gosh, that is the shortest time I have ever seen.

I dont know if this is the case or not but.....Try giving it another day or two.....it could be that the people lost power for whatever reason (dont know what part of the country they are in) but Here in NC we lost power just before christmas and we had a couple auctions go out we got online via useing the power cord to hook it to the car(little plug in thing to the lighter) anyway alot of people may not have that option.
I am not trying to cause trouble It is just a thought. Thankfully people understood with our situation and things got taken care of. but this is just a thought i know i would certainly hate to get back to the computer and find a strike on my name for something i had no control over.

I had that happen too and I called ebay. Apparently the bidder sent them a copy of the MO which I received a few days later. I would call ebay and ask them what's up and tell them you haven't received payment. Sometimes they have information they don't share.

Good luck!

If the buyer has a good feedback rating then give them a few more days... if they are a new eBayer or have negatives, then thats a different story.

OK on Day # 8...still no payment....the 72 hour thing is something BF did when he set up my sellers account...b/c he was too impatient to let me ask questions (he was having a bad day)
So, I filed a NPB...do I still have to close the auction? Do I have to wait 8 days then do it or can I do it now?

Oh and she only has 4 for feedback
