I just got my EBay cell phone today. I took it right in to get activated and sure enough, the keypad has a defect. If you press 1,2,3,7,8,9 or 0, everything is fine. But if you press 4, it shows up "*4" (the asterisk is the star key sign). 5 shows up "05", and 6 also has the star in front of it.
Did I mention I live in an area code that starts with 4? So every number I dial starts out *4--so I can't dial out.
I have an Email in to the seller. I am hoping to do a quick exchange, and not take a bath on shipping charges (like paying for the new one and to send back the old one). Meanwhile, I figure at least another week without my own phone and keep using DD's phone.
Also, DD is in such a hurry to get her own phone back, after I explained the situation to her she tried to grab the phone out of my pocket to see if she could fix it, and I jumped and the rolling computer chair went over her foot--my fault, of course!
One question--if I have to send it back before he will send me another one, should I get it de-activated? I was unable to transfer my phone book as my old phone won't power up--so there is no information in this phone.
***update...heard from the seller...no exchanges but they will refund me to paypal as soon as they receive the phone, I have to fedex it back. I have never had a paypal refund...does it just credit my visa, or sit in a "paypal" account?
She does want to know if it had an inspection card and who inspected it....guess someone was asleep at the switch.
