Ebay buyers BEWARE!

summerluvv -- They DO sell knock off Kate Spades. I've looked at those closely. They also have other designer look alikes, such as Gucci and DB, but I didn't look at those up close. My point isn't to argue with you about the mall kiosk. It's there, and as I said before I don't know how they get away with it. I never said the purse in the ebay auction in question came from there. My DBIL is in Customs and this type of stuff gets confiscated all the time. MY POINT is that there are ways people who don't know the differences could certainly be taken. And while ignoracne isn't an excuse when you are representing something to sell on ebay, it is possible that someone could truly think something was legit and it wasn't. There was also a company a while ago that was selling knock off designer purses via home shows, like Pampered Chef and Silpada. Again, illegal and I don't know how they got away with it. One of my friends in a huge Coach fanatic and she was considering having one. I'm not sure they are around anymore.

I've had someone hijack a photo and almost my entire listing which I DID NOT appreciate as I've taken the time to photograph my item and sharpen it up in a photo editing program and then create my listing in a special web page software program. THIS TAKES A LOT OF TIME.

SO unless someone who is going to "hijack" my photos or part of my auction listing is willing to pay me for my time you BET I will report them to Ebay.

IT's not right to this. It's also a misrepresentation of the product someone else has because it's not the exact item that is up for auction in their listing. Since then I've been forced to copyright/brand every one of my photos.

I totally agree with you. After spending a great deal of time on auction photos and text, it is very annoying that someone can come along, and with the click of the mouse, hijack/steal someone else's work. You bet I report it too. :(

This is why we put encryption details in our auctions if someone tries to cut and paste auctions/pictures.

I'm not sure how my DH does it, but every auction has encryption on it.

Most of the Louis Vuitton bags on Ebay are fake. Sellers will say the are authentic, come with certificate, lock, dust cover, boxes, name card etc. And a great percentage of them are fake including all the extras! The items are made out of the country.

Look at your seller's feedback. And check to see what they previously sold to get that feedback. Some sellers will auction other things or buy off ebay to build up their feedback, then put fake LV bags up that go for $300+ each...and they aren't real.

Alot of sellers that are auctioning fake LV bags, have hardly any feedback, and only put up the purses/bags up for a couple of days so ebay doesn't catch them.

Unfortunately, you have to do your homework buying designer goods off ebay. There are usually good tell tale signs and websites that can help you determine a knock off. If it's toooo good of a deal on ebay, it's probably not real.

Oh yeah...and definetly if your seller is selling from China....it's a fake!
PM me if I can help anyone. I would be more than happy to help

Yes...Nothing is more annoying. It takes TONS of time to get a picture right. I know just to get the a lipstick shade to be correct, I can spend an hour on 1 photo...and I have a $600+ camera. There is a link on the ebay website that you can report people that use your photos. Ebay will pull their auction, and they do not get refunded their listing fees because it is against ebay policy to use other people's pictures. I did this after kindly asking someone to change their picture because they didn't ask me to use it. The seller emailed me very hostile and telled me she didn't have a camera, so I would have to deal with it. So....I used that link ebay had for stolen pics.

Since having my photo's hijacked....I now put our ebay company name across each picture. Although, this was a hoot. I had a customer email us telling us that some seller used our picture....how did she know this? Cause it had our company name across the pic! HAHAHA Some nerve.

I know I have come across actions that people changed their pictures, so the person that stole it....their auction has now a new pic of something disgusting or something that says, "I steal pictures from other sellers. Don't buy from me". I personally think it's pretty hilarious.

VJC715,
Do you know any good websites that can inform us of how to spot conterfeit goods?
I just checked the feedback of the original person that I reported to ebay. They have now made their feedback comments private, so you can't read the specifics, but most are negative. And they have removed all other Dooney and Bourke bags they were selling. I guess Ebay stopped them for now.

Here are some examples:

http://www.hisremnant.org/Vuitton/fakes1.html
http://www.littleviews.com/home/newyork/fake_bags_3.cfm?KW=&date_range=

Again....look at feedback, look at past history of items they received their feedback for, if their feedback is low 1-20, most likely they are fake, if they have changed their name, etc. There are sellers on ebay that sell the real deal. They have great feedback. Sometimes they also sell designer clothing too. I also NEVER buy from anyone that has Private feedback.

Also....a good idea is to search the LV website, or Chanel's website, or what designer you are looking to purchase. Most will have pictures of the selection they sell. You will be able to spot the difference. See if the item up for auction is on their website. And see if it looks the same.

On the internet, people have actually made books to show you the differences, but I think with a little investigation yourself, you will be able to tell. You can also search the internet for Replica Coach, or Replica Gucci, or Replica Louis Vuitton or instead of replica use the word fake. You will see sites selling fake bags.

I think by doing all of the above, I can tell a real vs a fake bag. I've gone to replica sites, then checked the real deal to notice the big or subtle differences.

Overstock.com or eluxury.com sell the real deal at discounted prices.
