Ebay Buy It Now?

Just curious how many people use this feature? I use it and hardly ever have any takers. It seems like the only time I do is if someone buys it within ten minutes of listing. Then, I'm bummed because I know I could have gotten more out of it. It just happened. I suppose I'm happy because I got what I wanted out of it, but still I know it would have gone for more.

I never use it since it costs too much with all the other fees you have to pay. Plus, didn't the price just go up on it?! I think I used it once and the bidding went higher than the BIN price was set at.

Yes, it costs, but it's refunded if the item sells. I've never not sold an item when I've used Buy It Now. It doesn't always sell with the BIN, but it sells.

I've bought quite a few things with Buy It Now, but most of those items I bought were newly listed items less than 6 hrs. old. Usually the good stuff on buy it now gets purchased pretty fast.

Last year when I was really into selling about 1/4 of my items would sell if I set a buy it now price. Most of the time someone would just bid the minimum bid causing the buy it now price to go away. Several times my auctions ended far above what my buy it now price was set at. I like it when that happens.

Do you fellow ebay sellers get emails from potential buyers wanting you to sell your item to them outside of ebay?

I listed 3 items last evening. None had buy it now. All have bids. This morning I checked my email to find 2 buyers wanting me to cancel all bids and sell to them "under the table". Both buyers have been on ebay for a while and have great feedback (I checked).
Last week I just started reselling and listed 2 items. One item sold and the other didn't. Someone again emailed me wanting me to close the auction and sell the item to her for $45. I said no. This same person ended up winning the auction for $30.

Am I the only one getting these emails to sell outside of ebay?

With the partial refund, full refund and chargeback weirdos I got in Nov. and now the "sell to me under the table" people I'm thinking I must definately have
a scent to make odd ebayers gather near me.

I've had people offer to buy if from me early. I will sometimes ask that too, but I never want to do it under the table. I don't mind when people ask me to end it early. The only reason I ask is because I don't like waiting around to get an item.

When I buy from eBay, I like a BIN. I don't have to set up an auction "swooper" and I get the item right away.

A also use BINs when I sell on eBay. Usually on a big-ticket item with a reserve. The reserve will keep the BIN around even when there are bids on the item. Once the reserve is met, the BIN goes away. I probably sell about 30-50% of my stuff on a BIN. I set my price fairly, but a little higher than normal. Most people are willing to pay for instantanuous gratification.

BTW, I never sell an item before the end of the auction and I have never asked someone to sell me something early. I have asked someone to sell me something after the auction ended with no bids. Usually it's because I started looking for the item after the auction had already ended or I missed the auction, not because I didn't want to bid.
