I cancelled my Disney reservation and closed my DVA because I decided to rent points for my upcoming trip. I got the refunds to my credit card and decided to use the money to purchase Disney gift cards so I could keep the vacation money separate. I used Ebates and got 3% cash back on my gift card purchase, so $50 back on my $1600 gift card purchase. I know I could have gotten a better deal at Sam's with my Freedom card, but the credit was on a different card.

I also got 1% cash back on my Undercover Tourist tickets, so $20.

If you're not already using Ebates, I HIGHLY recommend it. You get cash back for online purchases from tons of stores (Target, Kohls, UnderCover Tourist, etc.). Once a quarter they send the cash directly to your PayPal. I've been using it for a few years and I've saved over $400 for shopping I'm already doing.

I just opened an ebates account last month. Have over $300 already
I look at ebates and the american airlines portal to see what will be better - cash or miles.
This week it was a $4,000 purchase on Neiman Marcus which would have gotten me $240 from ebates - but I wanted the AA miles - 24,000.

Other sites, such as topcashback give you the $$$ quicker and give you more. I consistently find EBATES to give the least cashback of the "rebate sites." this was brought to my attention by this post by Psychodisney, whom I thank for opening my eyes to better deals.

I get no referral points from anyone.

It is definitely not true that eBates has the lowest rates. Sometimes they have the best. But the reason that I keep sticking with eBates is that my shops pretty much always credit. I tried with several other cash back sites and many times it never credited and the customer service was terrible. If it doesn't pop up in a few days, Ebates usually credits me quickly if I open a ticket.

I know there are other companies out there. I, however, choose to stick with a reputable company with excellent customer service. For me, the trade-off is worth it.

In my experience, it is certainly true that Ebates often has the lowest compensation rates. Not always. Nothing is certain in this world. Plus, they make you wait months for your "skinny little check." But, sometimes they have dynamite deals.

BUT, that is why PsychoDisney's Post is so valuable. You can check and see if Ebates or one of the others is the best for that particular store at that particular time. If Ebates is best, great.

And, blah, blah, blah about Ebates and their customer service (which I found to be very clunky and took more than a week and a half to credit me with lots of back and forth). But, some of the other rebates companies have very, very solid reputations. Not all of them.

Do what you want, but if you get excited over $400, I get more excited over $800 for the same purchases.....

I am not "married" to any of them. If a company has a solid rep, which many of the others do, I will go with them. If Ebates is best (which it has not been in the few weeks since Psychodisney posted), I will go with them. Pretty much a no-brainer.

Hmmm, just stating my opinion. Not defensive at all. I like to save $$. I assume others do also.

Seriously, you just go ahead and use Ebates. Seems like it works for you.

From the post physcodisney is a fairly new post. I knew about the site for at least a year. I have used ebates as well as other sites in the past by far ebates is the most reliable.

I find it hard to be able to form such a strong opinion in 14 days...

Well, Ellie05, go ahead, use Ebates. Again, I don't care. Am I gaining anything from you using it or not. Nope.

Just trying to be helpful.

And, yes, no "year or more experience," except with Ebates, which I find lacking.

But, I have dug deep on some of the other companies and find that a couple of them have very solid creds.

Again, do what you want. I don't understand the attacks, all I am trying to do is to let people know there ARE other options.

Means nothing to me if people decide to cut their cashback by 50 percent by not using the most $$$ site. .

I don't think anyone was attacking you, we were just offering our opinions on eBates. But you seem to have gotten instantly combative. For example, I simply stated that from my personal experience, I have had the best credit rate through eBates. I tried sites like TopCashBack and ShopatHome, but had very terrible luck getting anything to credit. No one is saying that eBates always has the best rate or that there are no other sites. But my personal feeling is that I would rather get $10 from eBates than end up with $0 from another site that promised me $20. To me, they are tried and true.

And instead of getting all defensive, maybe it would be helpful to the conversation to tell us which sites you have had good luck with.

No one is attacking you. I think you have gotten super defensive. Doing research and showing they have solid credibility is not the same of actually using it. Please tell us which of these sites have this great credibility. From my experience of using other cadhback sites is that their tracking is not as good as ebates. The worst part is that they don't usually end up giving you the credit like ebates does.

Not a single person attacked you. You, however, were very rude. Saying "Blah, blah, blah", for example, is completely rude. You don't like ebates. We get it.

I don't find ebates to be particularly reliable. Several times they have not credited me the cash for documented shopping trips and I have to email them. This is fine, but last time they said, 'we'll credit you this time, but next time you will have to wait until we are done researching your claim'. How about you credit me for the trip in the first place? Also, they credited two of my (separate) shopping trips to one store, then mysteriously took one away. The items had not been returned.

I have a few smaller, uncredited shopping trips (<$10) that I didn't even bother emailing about since it is not worth it for the $1 or less I will get from them. I think they know this...
(the shopping trip shows but there is no credit listed).

You really have to keep on top of them.

I use both TopCashBack and eBates. TopCashBack usually offers higher rates, but sometimes eBates has slightly better. I've had the same sort of issues with both sites - sometimes things don't credit, sometimes credits are taken away even though I met all the posted terms and they can't explain way, etc. Neither site is perfect, but both are good enough. I'd rate them equal. I don't consider eBates any more reputable, they just advertise more.
