Has anyone stayed at EB Smith Miami prior to cruise? How is the hotel restaurant or are there good restaurants within walking distance?

You are talking about EB Hotel near the airport?

Have not stayed. But I would not have problems planning on eating there for a one-night stay pre- or post-cruise. The restaurant is ranked #1 (of 12) on TripAdvisor in that area. Reviews are positive about the food (not just bartenders, as hotel restaurants sometimes are). Good reviews on Yelp, also.

Here is the lunch and dinner menu from the hotel website.

Otherwise, I don’t think you’ll be walking anywhere to dine. Okay, Pollo Tropical and Burger King are just across the side street - I probably would go there. That’s just me - I am often horrified at food prices after traveling through airports. If I wanted to take the time and dine, I would just go downstairs to this restaurant. Dine or just eat - you appear to have both options.

Just be aware how close to an airport the hotel is.

We stayed there last September, pre-cruise one night. The hotel is just lovely. I would stay there again. We found the restaurant there really nice. We ate dinner there that evening and breakfast the morning of departure. The salmon ceviche is not to be missed. The waitstaff there was wonderful. There really isn't any other place to eat, with one exception. When we arrived, it was still early and wanted an early lunch, bar had yet to open. The front desk staff said there was a place to grab a bite a few blocks down the sidewalk- Airport Cafe and Liquours. So we walked, in the Miami heat-lol. It was one of those liquor store restaurants. We ate with the locals and had some of the best cubanos I have ever had- all the cooking was done right in the back. We had the best time,. The experience may not be for everyone, but we loved it. Check them out on Yelp, they have amazing reviews.

We loved this hotel. Very nice and clean with free airport shuttle.
I felt like I was in Barcelona. It has a European feel to it.
The shower was very um, romantic. :thumbsup2

We had a late arrival and didn't eat breakfast at the hotel.
I would definitely stay there again.

We booked the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon in October because there is a Publix right across the street and with it being a 14 nt WBPC cruise, I really want to be able to buy a case or 2 of water so we're not stuck paying $60/case+18% gratuity while onboard. Never again.
For a shorter cruise, I'd pick the EB in a heartbeat.

We are on the WBPC in October also. Good point on the water it is expensive to buy on board.
