Is anyone interested in having a meet thread for the kids/teens?

My daughter already started one if your kids want to reply just look for it Its title starts with The kids of 4/10/2010.My daughter says it ends up on the
3rd page.:)

Hi All. Add me as a hopeful EB transatlantic passenger.

When I first saw the schedule, I was upset. This year the EB repo was in August, but I couldn't afford it at the time. I was hoping the 2010 WB repo would be in August as well, but a September cruise would mean pulling the kids out of school and missing all the back to school stuff - unacceptable to us.

My mother offered to fly out and watch the kids, so I secretly booked my DW Michelle and myself (Brian) on the EB repo. We're currently booked in cat 11, but I am dreaming of an upgrade.

Neither of us has ever been on a cruise, but we are booked on the 22 Aug 09 Western Caribbean. When we come home, if my wife liked the cruise, I'll spring my surprise on her. If not, I'll be severely disappointed!

Hope to meet you all in 17 months!

Scary thing is by 2010 he will drive really fast too :scared1: 2 more races at ~35 mph, then he goes to a bigger kart ~ 65 mph :scared1:

Ohhhhhhhhhhh... Something tells me I'm gonna have to stay off the streets of San Jose when he gets his license...

Welcome!!!

& if your wife is like us... we did the 15 night PC repo and it was definately NOT enough days!!!

Just think.. someday he's gonna have to teach his own kids to drive and it will all come back to slap him (says a good queen...or an evil one...)

Can he parallel park yet??? wouldn't want him to fail on that one... :rotfl2:

Hi, everyone. I've only been able to read the first few pages, but I hope to finish someday.

I'll be on this cruise and am really looking forward to it. I've never been on a cruise except for a tiny one as part of a Italy/Greece trip (very small ship with little to nothing to do on it :sad2: ). I hope to plan a small 3 day Disney cruise in 2009 just to get my feet wet so I have some idea of what to do.

Anyway - it's just me in a cat 11 room.

Oh cool! I'm sorry I didn't even look before I asked. I will def tell my older 2 about the thread.:thumbsup2

We did a big apple picking day a couple of weeks ago and I've been making lots of apple recipes since then.

I miss apple picking. I grew up in Boston and haved lived in FL for 14 years. I haven't gone apple picking in a long time.

Welcome! My kids should have spring break during one of our weeks (fingers crossed) that is why we chose the EB. That and the overnight in Barcelona=no extra $$ for a hotel in Barcelona ;) My DH and I took our 1st cruise in 2004 for our 10th anniversary and we were hooked! The TA will be my 12th cruise. I have sailed with RCCL, Carnival and DCL. DCL is my fav. The ships might not have all the latest whistles and bells of a RCCL but, there is just something special about the disney cruises. It's a perfect fit for my family. I hope you and your DW enjoy your cruise!

Welcome! We have 2 cat 11 gtys booked. We would love to end up with even a cat 10 because we have 4 people to a cabin. If not oh well. Being on the ship is the main thing for us. We will survive somehow;)

Yeah, apple picking is one of those things I love about living in the Northeast. Autumn is my favorite season, and we get a bunch of it here :)

DH and I also got hooked on cruising after our first cruise- for us it was our honeymoon in 2002. Since then, we've done cruises 1-2 times a year. We've been on NCL, Carnival and Disney, and Disney is also our favorite!

We booked three category 10 cabins for this cruise. The split bathroom is really nice when you have 4 in a cabin, so that's our splurge (along with taking tons of photographs!).

that is a good thing to know. And ::yes:: I agree karts are safer than motorcycles. ::yes:: you are correct, his next year will be a make or break in terms of seeing if he will continue for real or fun. I'm hoping for some of both. If it is for real I hope he does well, but fun would be so less stressful and less time consuming. I know if he goes for real this will be a EVERY weekend thing. I'm already feeling the pain of 2 weekends a month.:headache:

I have been looking at all the CheapAirfare sites to see if the DCL was a good quote....1040 for the Adults and 870 for the kid. Seemed like alot at the time. But, the best I am coming up with for April 2009, to compare, is over 4000 total....and this is only one-way from Barcelona to Detroit. So, I am not feeling too bad right now about the DCL quote.

I've "seen" some lower rates for April 09 as I've been checking like you. I didn't ask Disney to do the airfare for various reasons. From what I see on other sites, there are other cruise ships either coming or going from Barcelona at that time in 09 and that is why the cheaper airfare is already taken. I'm hoping my May 09, I can snag one of the cheaper seats once the airfare comes open.

also, I'm thinking about staying one more night in a hotel if necessary if the airfare would be significantly cheaper (and better connections) than leaving straight from the ship.

I've seen one-way prices as low as $355 (w/taxes & fees it comes to just over $500) from Barcelona to Boston or JFK for April '09. I'm hoping to see similar prices for '10. We plan to spend a few days touring Spain and Portugal so we'll be able to fly out of Barcelona, Madrid or Lisbon, whichever offers the best fares.

as far as connections, i have been checking about going through dublin but then you have to deal the 1 bag each issue. if you fly direct to the us from Barcelona or Madrid this isn't an issue.
but i have found as much as $500 difference pp to santa barbara-mco/mad(bcn) when using dublin as a hub. $768. much better than most other EU cities......$1300. THRU MADRID $1800 THRU BARCELONA.....

We need Lotsa Pixie Dust sent our way. I just got a call From Kel...they swept through her department at work and pretty much the whole team got layed off!:confused3

The evil Economy demon has finally caught up to us....she has spent the last year and a half dodging him, so it is almost a relief. Hopefully, she will be able to call in a couple favors and find another position by Jan....and it I will have to pick up as much over time as I can.:scared1:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Now, I am glad this trip is so far away....if gives us a chance to catch our breath and rebound. I am going to try and not stress yet....I have alot of time before I have to worry about cancelling.

I guess I should check my lottery numbers.....

Sorry to hear that, Jewel. Fortunately my wife is pretty recession-proof (she's an RN) but I have serious concerns about my job after August of next year when we start the next fiscal year. Come January of February I will be looking for another job, too. Hopefully the job market will start improving soon...
