DH and I are going to be in Disney World between Dec.19,2006 to Jan2. 2007 and I have heard of people eating their way around the Showcase. And I was wondering which places are a must and why. also what did you order and what it was like the food I mean. We were thinking of just at lunchtime and having little tidbits at each place. Any experiences that you had or liked would be appreciated. We are looking forward to doing this, I think it will be fun, thanks in advance,,,Carol :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We can never make it, not because of being full but because of time. Go on the extra magic hour. And we get one thing from each country. Doesn't have to be big. As long as you can show a receipt from each country showing that you purchased a food item. In Mexico we have had a churro, in Germany a braut, in china a bowl of rice or egg roll, in france a pastry, I know we have done others but forget what we had. We have tried it both directions.

We did this on Mothers Day (yes, with my mom and my DH!) a year ago. Lots of fun but gosh, we were tired and full! It was mostly the beer/wine that got to us ;)

We just started at one point and ordered a little snack that looked good and a drink that look good. We didn't go in with preconceived ideas on what we'd order. We ended up with:

Mexico - nachos and Dos Equis from Cantina

Norway - each got a pastry (I tried the schoolbread - NOT IMPRESSED and regretted it - but DH had a chocolate something that was divine) and a beer

Germany - pretzels and beer, of course!

China - wine and eggrolls

Japan - couldn't stomach another thing so soon so we bought Sake and brought it home

Morocco - decided to have a meal here at Tangierine Cafe, though we split 2 platters between the three of us. And had a beer.

America - nothing, I can get that at home!

France - cheese plate, beer, wine tasting, pastries

Italy - wine tasting

UK - fish and chips, beer

Canada - they don't have a cart or anything like that though I later learned you can order cheese soup to go from LeCellier

I think that's all of them? It would have been easier to do during F&WF because the beer/wine are large portions and get pricey!!!

This is great and a few nice suggestions that we will have to try. we never did go to try the take out places only Norway which we loved.
Thanks again and please keep them coming,,,Carol

I've tried it twice but have not yet made it. I always get too full. In Mexico we got a churro or margarita, in Norway lefse or chocolate cake, in Germany I've tried a German chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate covered cashew cluster, China fried wontons in a bag, Italy a cannoli, America funnel cake, Japan kaki gori ice, Morroco always have to eat at Tangerine Cafe, France a Napoleon, United Kingdom fish and chips, and Canada maple candy. Well, I guess I have ate all the way around, but just can't do it in one day. Good luck and have fun!

I agree the food at the America Pavillion is less than inspiring...but....Ohhhhhhhhh the Funnel cakes!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes I cannot go to WDW without having at least one!

Just remember, you don't have to "Eat around the world" all at the same time. Something you might want to try... take the boat and start over at the american pavillion, then head to the right. Get at least one item (you can share) from each country. Then when you can take a break and go to some of the attractions, then go back to the WS and hit the other side.

When you head to France, make sure and go back to the pastry shop... mmm... yummy stuff back there!

I'm looking forward to trying to "Eat around the 'Extended' World" for the F&WF in October! I have a feeling it will be an all day dining experience.
