So if you bring in your own lunch...and want a place to sit down and relax/eat.....where do you eat? I know it is "frowned upon" to sit down at the CS tables because the seating is for individuals/families that are paying to eat there.....

I read on a blog that you can eat on the train at Magic Kingdom? Has anyone done this with young children?

Should we start a thread of "Quiet Places to Eat a Picnic/Cooler Lunch?" :lmao:popcorn::

I'm almost positive part of the train announcements involve no eating and drinking while on board. So no picnic lunches allowed there!

There are a few benches scattered thru the parks that would work for a quick lunch, and some walls that are low enough to make great seating areas. As far as the quick service restaurants go, many of them have outdoor seating. I think if the parks are slow and those tables are not needed you wouldn't have a problem using one of them for your meal. But I wouldn't use them if the parks are busy.

There is a walkway kind of behind space mountain leading into what used to be toontown- so I am not sure if it's still open. But it is a nice shaded usually empty walkway with benches. I would think that's a nice place to sit.

Also what about tom sawyer island?

All this of course is assuming they allow you to bring food in. Do they?

Yes. You just cannot bring in glass jars (except for baby food jars) and alcohol. Also plastic straws are not allowing in the Animal Kingdom as they are bad for the animals.

The walkway is closed during the Fantasyland expansion.

Tom Sawyer Island is a nice place to get away from the crowds but you need to take the rafts to and from the island. It used to have picnic tables but I'm not sure if there are anymore. We were all over the island back in Feb. and I don't recall seeing any. There's also a refreshment stand that is open seasonally. If it's not open, you could use those tables for your picinic.

ETA: Allears.net has a blog series call "Have a Seat In Walt Disney World". Many of the seats are not associated with a counter service restaurant. You can check out the first blog post (Seats in the MK) here:

Just follow the links at the end of the article for seating in the other parks.

There are tables and chairs on Tom Sawyer's Island. They use to have a food stand there that sold sandwiches and hotdogs I think.

There is some seating over by Carousel of Progress and Space Mountain
