On my January solo trip, I'm planning to do the "eat around the world" thing (something I've never done). Now, I'm not going to eat a full meal in each country, but rather just want to try something in all of them over the course of several days.

Let me give you my plan so far, and you help me fill in the blanks.

MEXICO - a "snack" from the Margarita Stand (I know . . . not officially eating, but I can't resist)
NORWAY - rice cream
CHINA - _________________
GERMANY - dinner at Biergarten (and a big stein of Spaten!)
ITALY - chocolates and wine
AMERICAN ADVENTURE - _______________________
JAPAN - ______________________
MOROCCO - dinner at Restaurant Marrakesh
FRANCE - crepes or something from the bakery/dessert shop
UNITED KINGDOM - lunch at Rose & Crown
CANADA - ______________________

Let's hear your suggestions!

If they still have beavertails in Canada - that is a must eat! Its deep fried dough with your choice of toppings. My fave is the original sugar and cinnamon.

I just checked allears and it looks like Japan has a little temp shop out front that serves some tempura items. That just sounds delicious right now! I'm curious to see what suggestions everyone gives you. We are going in Jan as well and intend to do something similiar. I have to say though.....my Norway stop will have to include school bread!:goodvibes

You could have an eggroll in China, or a bowl of soup from the counter service place there.

American Adventure: funnel cake or turkey leg. Or anything from the Liberty Inn-- burger or fries? (Depends on how hungry you are!)

Japan: Kaki Gori or a skewer from the Yakatori House

Canada: there's nothing here. :sad2:

Beavertails have been gone for quite some time.

As far as Canada, you could probably buy some maple candy in the gift shop?? I can't remember what they have.:)

Here's my updated list:

MEXICO - a "snack" from the Margarita Stand (I know . . . not officially eating, but I can't resist)
NORWAY - rice cream or school bread (see below)
CHINA - egg roll
GERMANY - dinner at Biergarten (and a big stein of Spaten!)
ITALY - chocolates and wine
AMERICAN ADVENTURE - turkey leg or candied nuts (see below)
JAPAN - sushi (I guess?)
MOROCCO - dinner at Restaurant Marrakesh
FRANCE - crepes or something from the bakery/dessert shop
UNITED KINGDOM - lunch at Rose & Crown
CANADA - some of that maple candy . . . or maybe just a beer

A couple of questions from above:

Is the rice cream available at the bakery? Or only at the buffet?

Don't they have those candied nuts at one of the carts around the American Adventure? I just remembered those, and I love them!

How about funnel cake for US?
Japan - get some Japanese candy in the department store. I love Pocky! Cookie type sticks dipped in chocolate.
Canada - You could always go to Le Cellier and get cheddar cheese soup and pretzel breadsticks to go!

MEXICO - a "snack" from the Margarita Stand (I know . . . not officially eating, but I can't resist) the maragritas are probably as good as anything else
NORWAY - rice cream I prefer the fruit tarts - berries on top and the crust is dipped in dark chocolate!
CHINA - _________________They have a new tea stand. I tried the drink with plum wine. It wasn't the best thing I ever tasted, but it was interesting. Some of the other non-alcoholic combos sounded good though, like the mango/tea slushie
GERMANY - dinner at Biergarten (and a big stein of Spaten!)
ITALY - chocolates and wine Yeah, it's a shame there aren't more options at the Italy pavillion. The wine was okay though.
AMERICAN ADVENTURE - _______________________Eh, let's face it, there's not much that's unique here. Out front they have funnel cakes, but they've never appealed to me. Ugh - fried DOUGH! During F&W though they have all kinds of Sam Adams brews to sample.
JAPAN - ______________________The chicken terriyaki is good. Though they no longer have it a la carte like they used to offer it. The udon soup was also very good here. Both good choices if you aren't very familiar with Japanese food. Skip the miso, it's about the worst miso soup I've ever had. If you want very good Japanese sushi to try, head over to the sushi place at the Swan.
MOROCCO - dinner at Restaurant Marrakeshthis was lots of fun. The belly dancer was better thenI expected. Phew, what a workout!Makes Pilates look like a joke.
FRANCE - crepes or something from the bakery/dessert shopThere's lots of good choices in the bakery.
UNITED KINGDOM - lunch at Rose & Crown
CANADA - ______________________ !
we pretty much alwasy skip this one, except for trying LeCellier, which was excellent.

My DH and I would love to try the cheddar cheese soup--can you really get it to go? If so how do you accomplish this? TIA :) Not trying to hijack the thread, just curious.

China - Lotus Blossom Cafe - the Rou Jia Mo - Chinese Beef Sandwich $6.59
American Adventure - Liberty Inn - get a cheeseburger and load it up at the fixings bar $5.89 (the veggie burger is also very good)
Japan - Yakitori House - Kaki-Age Udon - vegetable tempura with shrimp and udon noodles served in a clear broth with green onions $6.49
Canada - this one's tougher - I'd have a beer :)

EG

We did this several years ago, looking at the trip report though I had Mexico and U.K.the previous day so I didn't that on the same day
Canada-beavertail (do they even have anything in Canada anymore or is it just popcorn)
France-strawberry crepe
Morocco-shawarma chicken
Japan-kaki gori
America-apple pie
Italy-pistachio biscotti
Germany-bratwurst
China-egg roll
Norway-rice cream

Anybody?

yes, you can get rice cream at the bakery.

I'm not sure about the nuts. I know there is a cart at the beginning of the World Showcase but not sure if there is one near American Adventure.

Another vote for egg rolls in China, funnel cake in America, some little candies in the Japan shop (to save for later if you're full, LOL) OR just a piece of tempura or sushi from new restaurant, and I have no clue for Canada. I would guess a beer, or see if they have some sort of snack/treat in the gift shop.
