We're staying at HoJo and I thought we could just take bag lunches, but dh doesn't want to carry lunch around in July - he's worried about spoilage. He doesn't want to necessarily have to go off-site for lunch, either.

So, where can we go to eat lunch on-site without spending half a fortune for 4 people? (2 adults, a 13 year old and a 3 year old) We have 3 day park hoppers, so I guess we're really only looking at the 3 days of eating on-site. And 1 day at KBF. I'm thinking we can still carry granola bars, cookies, fruit leather, etc. and just buy the meals, not the snacks.

I don't know of any where in DL that is cheap. Portions sizes are really big so why not share your meals. You could probably buy 2 meals(ask for the hamburger or what ever to be cut into 2's or 4's) and share them amoung the 4 of you. That way later you can splurge on a yummy ice cream cone or any of the other goodies that will be calling out to.

Taking healthy snacks with you is a good idea. DH and I went to WDW in January and it was really good to have some healthy snacks on hand cause it was really had just to find some fruit to eat.

Enjoy your trip!

Sharing meals is a great way to cut costs- Id recommend doing this at Rancho De Zocolo, Plaza Inn and Red Rocketts- Their portion size is pretty good-

Another option is get kids meals- they are pretty decent sized :)

Usually what I do is get a reg meal once and a kids meal once- then it avgs out :)

Yes, it would be easy to share at those places. I can never finish a whole plate myself. Also, some of the counter service places in DCA have big enough portions to share. I think Strips, Dips, & Chips has 6 chicken strip meals, that with the large amount of fries they give you would easily be enough for 2 hungry people (or 3 with smaller appetites) to share.

Get a double cheeseburger at Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA- load up on the free toppings bar and have it opened faced.

Share meals at Rancho del Zocalo- remember they have free refills of pop!
Order a footlong/chili dog and split it at coke corner (or whatever it is really called )

I've heard lots of raves about Whitewater Snacks near the pool in GCH - fresh food made to order and cheaper than the parks.

I always ask my online friends to give me their expired McDonald's treat coupon books (booklet with coupons for free fries, pop, ice cream etc.. aimed at kids) - they have no expiration in CA. = Free food and snacks when you walk back to hotel/to park.
Last yr we stopped in to a local 7-11 (or other convenience store) for water, pop, snacks, cheese sticks, fruit salad...
Further down by the Convention Center there is a farmer's market stall- we picked up fresh fruit and vegies in the morning. They also have a nice selection of dried fruits and nuts. This was a welcome change from typical park food and our tummies we're much better for it.

not sure if that is the correct spelling...but they have HUGE servings! And it is really good! Try the chicken nachos....they are really good, and we fed 2 adults and a child with one order!:sunny:
