We are going to disney spur of the moment and I'm not sure about ADR'. What options are good and quick in the resort areas that do not require reservations? We are staying at the pop century hotel. I was thinking we might go mid afternoon and catch an early dinner while taking a break...

When are you going? My advice would be check out some menus and call and try to get some ADR's. You may get lucky. If you don't get lucky on ADR's POP food court has a wonderful variety of food offerings, not just burgers and fries.

Pop's menu looks pretty good for conter service.

For sit down you might want to try downtown Disney.

DBro and his family walked up to Planet Hollywood once and were seated right away. They said they enjoyed the steak and the kid's chicken fingers (and dniece is very picky!!)

DS and I walked up to T-rex after a day at Animal Kingdom. It couldn't have been more perfect!!!! We built a Dino after dinner. It was awesome. The steak was one of the best we've ever had and the veggies were delicious. I do not know the number, but apparently T-rex now takes reservations themselves, (not through wdwdine). Also, they have started giving a 10% discount for AP holders (unfortunately, this began after our visit).
