Okay. I know. We're on vacation. But.....My family and I have been working hard to shed some weight these past several months and I do not wish to see it all go to waist (pun intended) on or 6 day stay at the HRH.

I have seen indications on these boards that some folks are part of a group losing weight. Can anyone offer advice on how not to blow it big time while we are away? Can you suggest places where there are menu items that will help us make good choices? We have been focusing on lifestyle changes rather than dieting and I would like to keep this up on our trip, while realizing that some splurging will be in order.

Thank you for your help.

I don't know about which restaurants to recommend, but remember you will be getting a lot of excerise by walking, use the steps in hotels and if staying on property walk rather then use the boats. Also since you are on vacation I would eat the food, only smaller portions. share. Also stay away from the sweets, deserts and inbetween snacking. That's what I do and usually come home the same or lighter. It's usually easy not to snack, because of the cost. Also if you want to spluge only do it for 1 meal everyother day, and really cut back on your least favorite. breakfast, etc.

markey, great advice about walking, it really does help burn the calories. The portions are large almost everywhere and sharing is never a problem. You can also find salad entrees at many restaurants. Its easy to choose healthy items if one wants but so tempting not to! In between meals you can find fruit stands at both parks. When in doubt I order steak and rice or a plain baked potato. You can request healthy choices anywhere. When ordering veggies I always ask no butter to be added or sauces and also fat free or low fat salad dressings. As I said its easy to stay on target with many healthy choices the hard part is the willpower to order healthy avoiding all the yummy fattening foods. Good Luck and enjoy! :)

MAKE SURE YOU PICK UP A MAP! Seriously. On them they list all the restaurants and the ones with healthy choices and/or vegetarian meals available are marked with an apple icon. Keep that in mind when in the parks. :)

Thank you all for your timely replies and great suggestions. If our willpower can hold up, it sounds like we will be able to stay on target.

I just lost 44.4 pounds and I have 16 more to go. I thought, "what am I going to eat?" am I going to be tempted? and friends said, "take a break, you are on vacation, treat yourself to something". I have eaten SlimFast bars for breakfast and lunch and for dinner I have had salads, roasted chicken, and tonight I had fish. I went to Weight Watchers while I was here and still lost 1.6 lbs this week! Why would I take a break if this is my new lifestyle? I am also walking- in addition to all the walking in the parks, I am going out after dinner and walking at least 1.5 miles swiftly. Keep drinking lots of water too! I am really happy that I am sticking to my new life program. Why eat unsensibly just because we are on vacation? Are we not brushing our teeth or showering, or anything else to take care of ourselves? In my mind I kept a list of all the old me would have eaten and I probably would have gained at least 10 pounds.

Good luck and remember this is forever, so just forget about the junk :)
