Rules were made to be broken didn't you know that LOL. I play by my own set of rules always have always will well cept for here I try to abide by Petes rules when possible. I am not saying this to piss people off I am just commenting on what I have done and my family has done that is all it isn't done to get your goat or anything just offering up advice on situations.
Fine, play by your own set of rules somewhere that it doesn't endanger other's lives. If rules are meant to be broken, do you send your kids out onto the freeway to play? Doesn't make much sense, does it? Breaking firecode rules make about as much sense to me.

I have said it before and I will say it again bring it and cook we have done it numerous times and as people on here know we have even brought our 2 burner coleman stove and portable BBQ. We do the cooking with those on the balcony and have never had any complaints from anyone because of it.

I'm not a real strict, anal, obsessive you've got to follow every single rule to the absolute letter, they are carved in stone kind of person.... but cooking with an open flame on a wood balconey with such close residents is really a bad idea, and going beyond breaking rules, to violating good common sense.

It's really a very bad plan, and I hope that the rehetoric in some of the posts doesn't get in the way of your recognizing that, and discontinuing this practice. This isn't a 5 in a bedroom issue, this has some real potential for danger. Please reconsider this practice. It truely is illegal.

No I don't send my kids out on the street to play other than road hockey and roller hockey. But I do let them get away with other things that some parents may not. As for the cooking issue I have never looked that closely at the railings on the balcony at BWV to see it they were wood or steel never even thought about it actually. I am going to have to check it out next time down alas that isn't for 533 days. We don't do charcoal BBQ's can't stand using coals I guess I am not a true BBQ person because all real cooks that BBQ use coals I just find them far to messy for cleanup after we are done. Don't get me wrong it isn't like we are out there every night cooking up a feast as we only stay in a studio every so often and most times make tv dinners in the microwave it isn't an every trip kind of thing but now and then we like to have so called home gooked steaks. I guess that is why we love Le Cellier so much mind you it was better when they were serving Canadian beef.

I have to admit that during our recent trip to VB, we could smell our neighbors cooking! UGH!!! It came right through the closet and into the bedroom. Garlic and shrimp! And there we were eating our sushi and cokes. We could only imagine that the table was set with the scampi and a nice bottle of wine. We were so angry....that they didn't invite us over and share!!!

GD that sounds pretty darn tasty now I want some and I am stuck at work hmm I wonder if Red Lobster will be open at 11 tonight LOL.

Heck, we'll be doin' are usual pig roast in our studio this summer. Tub's just the right size! Bury him in some hot coals and off to the beach. Come back 'roun dinner time and he's sweet and tender. Mmm Mmm. Y'all come over for a bite won't you?

I agree that you should definitely get the handicapped tub for this. It will be much easier to open the side entry door to clean out the ashes when you're done.

Hey don't forget that you can always use the iron to make grilled cheese. Or better yet, if you really want to save money, you can bring a snare trap and catch one of the ducks walking by. You haven't lived till you've had Peking duck cooked on a Hamilton-Beach set to "cotton-linen."

Yum! Thanks for the tips. You know...those ducks were lookin' mighty good last trip. Any hints for the hair dryer? Tried making shakes with it last time, a bit messy... :rotfl:
