Does anyone have any experience with WDW dining affter having gastric bypass surgery. My doctor gave me a card stating that I had gastric bypass and can only eat the amount of a child. My husband is a big eater and would enjoy the buffets, but I can't eat near an adult size portion and barely a child size. Do you know if they would honor this diet restriction card or would it be more hassle than it's worth?

I may be wrong but I don't think they will. You can order from the children's menu but not on a buffet. They will help you as far as making something special for you, but I don't think by lowering the price.

Someone reported very recently that some of the buffets were gracious and charged for a child while others were not so accomodating.

You can go at it two ways. Either figure that your husband will eat enough for both of you paying an adult fee, or just bypass the buffets.

Most WDW portions are very large anyhow, so I wouldn't worry about him leaving hungry at non-buffet restaurants.

I also had the surgery (15 months and 124 pounds ago) and was wondering the same thing - I've had pretty good success locally with restaurants allowing me to choose off children's or senior's menus but didn't know how Disney buffets would work - the character buffets are some of our favorite places - I thought it might be worth asking, but if they didn't agree, I know that my "little ones" who will be 21, 21, 19 and 16 will eat my share and then some!!!

I went with a friend of mine who had just had gartic bypass. She showed her card at both Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's. They only charged her for a child's buffet. No problem with ordering kids menu at any of the other places we ate.

I just replied above about this. My friend had this done and she just showed her card at the buffets. They got management approval and charged her the child rate with no trouble at all. We did several buffet meals also and did not have a problem anywhere.
