My DW and I will be at disney next summer (July 2012) for 10 days and we have discussed eating all of our table service meals at Epcot reguardless of what park we are at. We feel that the "rest" on the busses/monorail would be a welcome break in our day. We were there in 2010 and really enjoyed our dining experiences in Epcot and thought it would probably be worth our efforts to eat there as much as we can for our next trip. So I guess my questions are as follows:

What restaurants would you pick and why ?
have you ever done or wanted to do a "only eat at epcot for our TS meals" plan on your trip?
Are we crazy for thinking this way?

I appriciate any and all comments :)

the restaurants I can remember right now from Epcot are Coral Reef and Edo Tappan, there was a couple others but I cannot for the life of me remember what they were now:confused3

Epcot has some lovely TS restaurants - but so do each of the other theme parks and (sometimes even better) the resorts. I would not at all want to limit myself to just the Epcot restaurants.

I suggest that you grab a list of ALL TS restaurants, then sit down with a site like www.allears.net and check the menus. Also have a look at the Dining Reviews on this board; they often include pictures and descriptions of other guests' experiences. That way you can get a better feel for what is available both at Epcot and in the rest of WDW.

In addition to allears, you'll find a great deal of information here on the DIS. Just click on "dining" in the menu bar near the top of this page. :disrocks:

Thanks for the quick replys, I have been checking the menus out on the Dis. I guess our problem with the food at the other parks was either it just wasn't good or we felt really rushed to leave. But what can you do :confused3

I don't think we'll make it to Epcot on our next trip, but when we do go back I really want to eat TS at Mexico and Germany.

I don't think any strategy is crazy if that's what makes you happy!:hippie:

I went back and re-read the initial post. Should have looked closer to start with. Anyway...

There are some great restaurants in Epcot, but most of the really good ones are outside the parks. Some of our favorites include:
  • Artist Point at WL - a very different menu with items you won't find elsewhere and a wonderful wine list.
  • Jiko at AKL - ditto above
  • Yachtsman Steak House - just great steaks in a nice, refined atmosphere with good service.
  • Flying Fish on the Boardwalk - really good service and a whimsical atmosphere. Food is wonderful.
  • Citrico's (GF) - elegant room with food to match.
And just so you don't think we are only recommending "signature" restaurants, we also love:
  • Bistro de Paris in France - lovely room with food that is significantly better than Chef's de France downstairs.
  • Teppa Edo - just for the "show" at the grill.
  • Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch - nice, sit-down meal with an atmosphere and menu reminiscent of the period. Not that I was around then...
  • Il Mullino at the Swan - a nice, upscale Italian restaurant. Great food and the lemonchello at the end is a nice touch.
  • Via Napoli - finally some good pizza at WDW. The rest of the Italian dishes are also wonderful. Try the arancini appetizer
  • Kona at the Poly. A really nice place, enhanced by the tropical surroundings
