We plan on going from AK park to eat dinner at Boma.
We plan on taking the AKL bus from the park to Boma and then going back to AK park and get on our GF resort bus .

I thought of making reservations at 5:00 pm and look around at AKL a bit because we have never been there.

I think AK will close around 7:00 if the park hours stay the same. Do the buses run an hour after park closing ? Making it until 8:00 that we would have to be back to AK for our bus.

Is this a good plan or what do you suggest ?

Yes, the buses run an hour after park closure. It looks like a good plan.

It's good you're plotting it out now; we thought we'd be okay getting back to AK after dinner at Boma, but when we got to the bus from AKL to AK, the driver said no more buses are departing AK, so we ended up getting a bus to DTD then to our resort- over an hour transportation time instead of possibly a 15-20 minute time.

You don't have to take a bus back to AK. Take a bus to a park that stays open later giving yourself more time at AKL. It's a beautiful place worth looking around.

I agree with this. I'd plan on leaving AKL for Epcot by whatever time Epcot is showing Illuminations that evening. The bus should get you to Epcot with more than ample time for catching a bus to the GF; you could even take the monorail from Epcot or MK to the GF. Both Epcot and MK are open far later than AK.

Agreed with the above. No need to go to AK if you're running late. Personally, I might be inclined to take the bus back to MK, then boat or monorail over to GF.

Even though buses are still running from AK, the driver will not allow you to board a bus to the park after it's closed.

It's usually best to transfer at the park closest to your destination, so take the bus to MK if that park is still open, and then the boat to GF, or monorail if you have a non-folding stroller or wheelchair. If MK is already closed, you'll have to go to Epcot and then ride 2 monorails, or, last choice if everything else is already closed, transfer at DTD. Buses run to DTD past midnight.

Ok thanks everyone. When leaving AKL I guess taking the bus to a park closest to GF would be a better idea :thumbsup2 MK would be the closest to our resort.
I have read so many things about the buses taking so long at AKL I just thought maybe if we would just take it back to AK it would be quicker.

You could also grab a cab at AKL back to GF for probably less than $25 including tip. When you ask for a cab let them know if you need a car seat. You will save tons of time and energy.

This!:thumbsup2

After Boma just take a bus from AKL to MK and then jump on Monorail to GF.

I've actually stayed at AKL several times....only once did I have an issue with buses. All other times, the buses were no better, no worse than at other resorts.
If the MK is still open that night, head there, then take either the boat or monorail to the GF. The boat will be quicker, since the GF is the first stop.

Yes, that's basically what we do, except we spend the rest of the evening at AKL (it's so interesting, plus watching the animals) then go back to AK and catch our bus.

I'd do this too. Taking a cab would be so much faster and more convenient.

Thanks all . Has anyone taken a cab recently from AKL to GF ? I wanted to know exactly how much it costs ? :)

Last time we took a taxi from AKL to GF it cost us about $20. We stayed at VGF in September and were shocked by the bad bus service there. We loved the villas, but found that the bus service was much better from AKV.
