Hi, :flower:

Ok, here's the deal. You see, in the end of April my family is having a Magical Gathering kinda event at WDW, and I have a question regarding Epcot.
My dh , dm and I are going to spend an evening out at EPCOT just for us to have a good time, and an oportunity for my dh and my mom to bond. :grouphug: They are going to go on a 'drinking around the world' thing at World Showcase (not to get tanked lol, just sampling ) and I am gonna be the designated Disney Driver. So my question is, what are the must have drinks (alcoholic and non)at World Showcase? :drinking1 (Do they really have a YARD of beer? ) :faint: And what kinda foods can I snack on since I'm gonna 'eat around the world' ? lol

Thanks!! :wave2:

I can't advise on the drinks because I don't drink.

On the snacks, you don't want to miss a stop into Norway and France's bakeries to try some yummies. My favorites are the School Bread in Norway and the cheesecake and sacristain in France.

We also like to get fish and chips in England and a brat in Germany, though they aren't MUST HAVES like the bakery items are.

The sake/wine bar is very good in Japan.

Snack wise may I suggest the treats in Morocco? If you like nuts and hunny it's the place for you!!

Here's a plan:

Start in Mexico and go around that way. Get a Fiesta Margarita and a churro, then walk at a leisurely pace toward Norway. You can get some beer there, but you've likely got some ways to go on the margaritas, so head into the bakery for some Lefse (cinnamon butter rolled up in a crepe.)

In China, you can get a Bubble Tea (non-alcoholic) in the counter service restaurant, which satisfies the snack and drink requirements at the same time. They also have beer in there.

Walk around to Germany and you should be ready for something new. Go into the Wine Shop (all the way to the back and on the right) and go to the tasting counter for some eiswein (if you like VERY sweet) or do a wine flight. They're usually pretty generous with the pouring. You can get some candy there, or a pretzel, and head over to Italy.

In italy they have some pastries and I think there is a gelato stand, as well as a wine bar. I'm not a big fan of Italian wine, so I've never stopped in there. If they have Banfi Brachetto Rosa Regale D'Acqui, get a glass of that and have some piedmont chocolate with it.

Next, America. They have beer and funnel cakes.

In Japan, there is a sake bar in the back of the department store, but it is not for the faint of heart. They have snowcones there which are pretty good. My favorite snack in Japan is chocolate Yan-Yan, which is sold in the grocery section of the department store. Pocky is good too (especially when refrigerated.)

Morroco has some lovely wines as well as beer, and they have honeyed pastries. If you're allergic to nuts, however, stay away.

France has crepes, a bakery, and a tasting bar. Get a Kir Royale if you don't mind Creme de Cassis. I generally get a chocolate crepe there and skip the wine, but that's just me.

England has the yards of beer, which you might actually be ready for by now. No real snacks.

Canada has Beaver Tails (sometimes) which are quite good, as well as Canadian beers.

You have now eaten and drunk your way around the world. Go grab yourself another Margarita, or head to Ice Station Cool for some free non-alcoholic beverages to rehydrate yourself :)

We start in UK with beer from the pub and a cheese/fruit/cracker platter.

In Canada we have moosehead with popcorn/chips. We feed popcorn to the birds before we go.

In Italy, we have a shot of limonciello, and sometimes do a wine flight. There is also Banfi Rosa Regale with dark chocolate available for tasting. You can't go wrong with any of those.

In Germany, we test any of the new wines, and I also enjoy some of the strawberry infused champagne. Also in the outside, the hefewiezen beer is wonderful, as well as the fig vodka. (look for the funny purple cap) You can grab a giant pretzel, or a bratwurst and kraut to enjoy with your drinks..all excellent.

In France we do a kir royale, champagne with creme de kassis.

In Mexico, whatever mexican beer they have available.

In Morocco a Casa beer, and then into the bakery for something wonderful. The pistacio baklava is excellent.

In the US..we sometimes grab a funnel cake..no drinks..as we don't drink bud or bud light..lol. They may have some sam adams now though..can't remember.

Now there's a touring plan I could seriously get into!

wow! cool
any more ideas?

this is our 1st time staying at an EpCot resort and Im planning on spend 2.5 days here plus a few lunches!

I like the first one, but for me, the Fiesta Margarita, not so much, I would pick one flavor next time!! (but they are so pretty, we tried it, dh ended up drinking most of it!! lol)

Norway, I wasnt impressed with the desserts we picked, but I agree\

China, somebody ought to warn you about that bubble tea!! lol again, I'm starting to realize I'm just a picky drinker!!

Germany, that does it, we have to go back, I completely missed the wine tasting! We did beer easy to see and it was good!

Now for France, its hard to pick just one dessert, so I got a to go box, sometimes we'd eat it while standing in line, other times, we thought it looked better than it tasted... but loved the wine tasting, great wines and champagnes...
:cool1:
Canada, I cant wait to go back to try the ice wine, its very rich, sweet, intense flavor! (as the grapes arent harvested, but stay on the vine thru the snow fall, and their sugar content is high, less fruit juices, so higher price!)

Thanks to the posters above who've done it better than we did! Maybe one day a beer day, the next wine!! I've seen a post or review on allearsnet.....

Also, dont forget the resorts have specialty not to be missed drinks, for us we stayed at the Poly, and it was hard to resist the Lupa Lupa's in the pineapple... love fresh pineapple tho!!

:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

Never ask for a yard of beer in England - it's a yard of ale. :drinking1
